Got pulled by the police today!
« on: May 19, 2014, 07:39:30 pm »
Very unusual to get a sensible copper. His first words were, "that's overloaded what you got in there?".

After showing him and him knowing how to work out the volume of water and knowing that water weighs approx 1 kg - 1 litre, he then changed his mind and sent us on our way. The van was a 55 plate fiesta van with a 250 tank in and 3 x 25 litre containers.

Even tho the arse is on the ground, legally it can carry a lot more weight.

All my vans carry are tanks, reel, pole and 1 driver. They only ever run max half full of diesel. That way I can carry max amount of water

Very lucky that you met a sensible copper because all the others are stupid.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

We do only have one man in each van. I'm a company with multiple vans, it was one of my vans that got stopped and I referred to it as us/we, that's how I speak, it's not me/I of that makes sense

what you need ,is a third wheel .  fitted midway on your rear axle.     this will prop it up so it looks normal

my vivaro has one, I didn't know till I had a look under

You can be ok on a weigh bridge but still get nicked for overloading your rear axle.

Just because you have a xxx payload dont mean all the weight can be on the rear axle.

Someone on here not that long ago posted a pic of a corsa van (i think it was for sale) that was set up for wfp. Had a 250l tank, looked real neat. They have a 550kg payload, which surprised me, but i looked it up, and yes, it does. Same surprise at the start of this post, as i was sure the fiesta was only 450kg. After looking it up, it seems the current fiesta van is 450kg, but the previous shape, like easy cleans, are 550kg or thereabouts. For someone that works local, and has a static tank at home, this would seem like a great choice of vehicle. Out in the morning, get half a day done, home for dinner, top the tank up, back out again!. Only problem is that because it is a van, you dont get the cheap tax like you would in the car, which for a fiesta 1.4tdci, or the corsa 1.3cdti, would be £30 or less per year.
