darren i get where your coming from but seriously do you think short journeys damage the engine and knacker suspensions?i dont.

my kangoo is right on its payload every day (if not slightly overweight)and has been for 4 years now!nowt wrong with the engine or suspension and its 14 years old.

also im of the opinion that having water all over the van floor doesnt rust the metal!i have water in the footwells all the time, water all over the back of the van every day!!

and guess what?NO RUST!! ;D ;D

No mate, short journeys will do more damage to your engine if you're always cold but for lower milage like you're doing it may never make a difference.
Suspension, i meant the weight of water, not journey time. Sorry.

Rust-depends on the van.

Take no notice of them daz, you and gary have exactly the right idea!. Bangernomics, that is the way to go, buy a cheap car, or van, use it till it dies, then throw it away, and get another. Simples!.

A brand new mid range mondeo or insignia will loose over £300 per month on depreciation, a brand new audi a5 will loose even more (although it is a smaller percentage of its value).

The most i have ever paid for a car was £1300 for a saab 99 and i didnt like it half as much as the first 99 i had, which only cost £350!. Cheapest car i ever bought was a lada 1600 saloon for £25, absolutely loved it!.

My current van, a transit connect, cost £6k and i cant see myself spending much more than that on its replacement. The iveco daily i had before that cost £1500. But a long time ago i did own a suzuki st90 (predecessor to the supercarry), paid £800 for that and loved it.

I have not bought a car for a long time though, as my wife gets a motability car.

Also Daz... I never said £200 was too much for a tank.

I said that id been offered another tank for a fraction of the price of a new one, thus saving about £100  ;)

£12000,£ 25000,£28000 all vans do the same thing whats all your expensive vans do what a £5000 van cant do , I personally dont think buying new is worth it vans n cars just depreciate to quickly , ive had my 06 vivaro 5 years and will probably have it another five years does the same job as a brand new one ,

The max for a van - I bought an ex 03 BT transit connect in 04 for £5 000 with 9 000 on the clock.

I've now had it almost 10 years and 160 000 miles later, apart from the usual, brake pads, etc, the only major repairs were a cam belt, £220 and recently, had the gear box done £800.

The most I've ever paid for a car, £20 for a Ford Anglia years and years ago.

I've always bought vans and the worst van ever was a Leyland Sherpa bought new. What a complete waste of money and what a nightmare. After two weeks one of the doors fell off. From there on, it got worse.

Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

25K.

Transit custom and system.

Matt, did you buy outright or hp? Your verdict on the Custom?

Thanks
Tom

Nice vehicle tom. Love it. I bought it with credit, a ford loan. Interest free.

iv always been in the 10 year old van bracket .

almost bought a new berlingo crewvan last summer but it turns out it was too cramped inside with crazy add ons and uncomfy seating so i decided against it . i knew instantly it would be hated by my workers who like the recliners in the back of my current berlingo

far too small.
you cant expand with that little van.
what size tank you put in that?
How many workers?
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

Dirty mate tell me if im wrong,i would of thought that a new engine
would be more sensitive to lower milage and constantly being cold
than a engine thats done a decent amount of miles and is properly
run in.

I cant count the amount of times ive been up and down the motorway
to bournemouth in the last year with my eldest at uni there in my
14 yr old astra estate without a problem and seen a myriad of broken
down new motors on the hard shoulder. ;D
