To cut a long story short getting airlocks in the pump/system and cannot for the life of me work it out. Have tried everything and now been advised to put a shut off valve after my filter but not sure which one I need. Can you guys give me any pointers about which one to buy?

Did they mean a shut-off valve or a one-way valve?

with flat tanks you tend to get more airlocks due to lack of gravity
It may be better to get your pump as low as as possible

i cant see how a shut off valve will help, what may help if you have some copper piping in the system, ie from the tank to the pump is place a air valve, the type you see in plumbing, a quick twist and the air escapes

agree with Alex. i think there is a slight confusion here . a one way valve would help
If you have pics it may help

or another simple solution that may help is to tip the tank so the pressure of water is always to the valve end, making sure its secure

When you say your filter do you mean the pre-pump strainer? or  DI filter?

Also is your pump as low as it can be?

Have you checked the inlet connection on the pump - is it fitted with PTFE tape if using a screw thread fitting - this is the most common source of air leaks on a pump.

A photo would be great, although I would suspect the inlet to the pump. It will not leak water if faulty it will just suck air in causing pump issues.

Re fitted PTFE tape this morning and although better it still needs bleeding between jobs. Once the pump is running it is fine. The thing is though that this has just started without warning. Been running fine for well over a year then hey presto - airlocks non stop. Will have a play again tomorrow and hopefully sort it.

It is definitely sucking in air somewhere - I would doubt that a one-way valve would help this if it is the pump connection doing so. It could even be the pump housing is cracked and letting air in.

A shut off valve between tank and pump I guess to stop the air lock reaching the pump when the water is low?

It is a brand new pump put on today and still the same issue as the previous pump. Been going around in circles for a week now.

It may be the strainer then. It would be worth running your set up without the strainer just to check.

Fit that as your tank outlet. When you move the van, switch pump off and turn the tap off on the outlet.
Its a non return valve so will stop the pump inlet drawing in air when you move your van and your waters low

Alex, tried your suggestion re removing the strainer and connecting direct and it worked a treat. Waiting for a new one coming so hopefully problem solved. Many thanks for the advice-very much appreciated.
