It's because Dean mentioned in one of his posts, that he's a part time police officer in Staffordshire, but would be in the area where the scumbag lives and that he would have a word with the scumbag.

If Dean had no intention of using any authority of being a policeman.....why  make any mention of it in his post.

My post to Dean was to say that he could cause himself problems if he did make it known that he is a policeman.

If I were a scumbag and I read on a public forum some copper saying he was coming round for a 'word' I'd be waiting with my camera phone. Maybe he is a halfwit maybe he isn't, either way an off duty copper going round for a 'word' is unlikely to help.

Look, I am not disagreeing that what Dean is offering is commendable and I'm sure he has a better idea of how the situation is likely to pan out than I do. But, in my experience scumbags tend to lash out when cornered. If it were me I reckon I'd turn this situation to my advantage pretty easily.

The correct way of dealing with it if I did do what I suggested, would be to visit Weymouth police station, and explain to the shift sergeant there what had been going on, had him a print out of the threads on here about Mr P Allen and explain to him that I was going around to visit the fella and see if I could suggest a deal which involves this guy paying back the money which we all believe he has stolen from some decent members from this forum.
