Can anyone recommend me a pair of waterproof  boots that will actually stay waterproof more than 2 weeks? Like the sound of Gortex lined boots, would like something light weight and dont need laced up to your knees. Anybody any links? Cheers Wayne

Ha ha, this old chestnut.
I bought myself a pair of secondhand Haglofs Grym hiking boots off eBay, they aren't cheap when new (£200 +), but I got them for £35.They are excellent. Dry and warm feet. This will be there second winter.
I've tried North Face boots, which are comfortable, but don't tend to stay waterproof for very long.
Looking at some Salomon ones on ebay at the moment. They seem to have a good reputation.

ex army pro goretex, you can pick em up off ebay for £30/£40  you can stand in steams over your ankle in them no problem, and they're very warm never needed thick socks with em at all

this may sound daft but i got a pair from sport direct a few months a go they are karrimoor waterproof walking boots they should have been 80 qid down to 40 .very good ,ive spent ££££££ over the years only thing i find soles wear out on expensive boots just as quick on slightly cheaper ones imo

Cant believe they have lasted so long , Mine last about 8 weeks and let water in almost straight away the worst boots i ever bought . Mike

I wear the same ones. £35 from sport direct. They tend to last me 12 months if bought just before the winter (now) which is dececent value for money imo.

Best boots I've ever had (and I must have tried 20 different types, including Goretex) were "Lune" Muckboots. They are warm without being hot and in winter keep your feet toasty, plus they are 100% waterproof. What you have to do is buy a tin of nickwax or G.wax from an outdoor shop, smear the wax all over the leather like butter, then use a heat gun or hairdryer on a low setting to melt the wax into the leather. One treatment lasts a whole winter. These boots are really hard waring, comfortable to wear, and as cheap as chips.
Never once in 3 years have I had wet feet when waring these boots. Like many others I wear trecking trainers for the summer, had wet feet with them many times.

Same here I buy a cheap £35-£45 PAIR OF KARRIMOOR they last about a year the only problem is they smell because the waterproof membrane isnt breathable

I have hounded shops lives with receipts I prove that all gortex leaks within the 30 day period they normally pick a fight refusing to replace until I call head office they kept replacing 2x as they insisted that the gortex doesn't leak but on the 3rd pair I just left it even those leaked
I'm gona try those cheap boots and wax that was posted just before

I bought some Stanley waterproof Riggers yesterday. Down from £60 to £40. Very nice to.

I have a pair of £180 Alt Berg walking boots. There is no way on earth I would wear them or similar to work. The treads aren't designed for concrete and would wear quickly. I would rather buy a new work pair every winter for £40. Besides, Rigger boots look cool.

I bought the same from screwfix, they are the only boot I have had that hasn't leaked, the should be fairly warm too.

They look like they have some sort of faux suede effect outer covering (probably duff Chinese muntjac skin).

I have given up on expecting waterproof boots to be waterproof. They never are, regardless of how much you spend. I have two pairs of "waterproof" boots which I rotate because they last much longer that way. For the really wet days, I wear the wellies I use when pressure washing.

They're great boots-agree with this post but they get a bit warm in summer...
