Doing it just outside of Leicester, this one is costing £258. There are cheaper ones, but non of them was when I had time to do it, so had to go for this one.

Decent training.

I get a few jobs by being able to use them plus they tend to be good wee earners.

yer I really enjoyed it, think the boom lift that we used was easier to drive and control than the scissor one they had.

I always thing boom are more natural to drive.    Plus I always try hire Boom for outside plus your find as soon you say I need a Boom and customer straight away accept it the job be from £1,000  I make better mark up on these and remember to ask Hire Firms for Discount!

I always get 3 quotes from 3 separate companies plus even if you pop in to ask them in person they often build a wee gel.   I do always pick HSS Hire as they can give me Kit quickest and I they give me a wee discount as I need one least every 3months to do a Shopping Centre.

I wouldn't bother with it TBH as jobs using platforms hardly ever come up and you can do 99% using pole system. If something did come up there's bigger cleaning company's that have scissor platforms, cherry pickets & gene booms that hire out with an operator so to me you wasted your time and money bro !!!

Not always I have had to turn away few big contracts that's I was asked to quote because I didn't have it,

Plus the other thing I don't want a one man banned business I want to build it into a larger company,

With this now I can target a lot of commercial building in the area as there are only a few that can di it in my town.

So for me it is money well spent

Plus what most peopple forget is that I'm not just a window cleaner, my company dose property maintenance also!

Yes,  I used to get a lot sub work and from these big companies and the shopping centre now comes direct to me and I done a few council offices and large firms buildings.

I come back being on average  30% cheaper than big firms and I am like you by doing other services.    I am recently helping friend who fits LED lights and getting to work in airport to install these lights and cleaning high up too.

Danny

Bit of a negative reply there. If you haven't got it how would you know. Most of those bigger firms hire in pickers. On our works you will see up to 50 scissor lifts parked up, that have been in stores overnight. These companies will have worked on top of chiller cabinets, roof spaces and light systems.

Outside there will be several pickers, for painters, roof works and us. If all of those companies took that stance they wouldn't be where they are.

Every piece of access on all of Sainsbury's works is hired in through an agreement with the supermarket chain and HSS, we can only use them on their jobs but they can cross hire to other suppliers. Everyone gets a 30% discount on hire.

Well done RC - this will open up a whole new area for you and your business but the work wont be given to you. I wish you well. Set yourself apart and gain massively

There you go

Just happened. Call from a major principle contractor - Can we have a team down at a job finishing off some store works tomorrow morning.

Would't have that without the IPAF license!

All I can say is I'm not a one man band, do t need the license as I've only had a few jobs with  gene boom come in which I got another company in to do it and earned a grand for doing nothing. I know you can use these for putting bird spikes on roofs but wouldn't be regular as I said occasionally so would just get another company in unless you buy your own boom where then it would be worth getting the license. Myself I'm busy enough and am not into painting as you say Rob as I got plenty to do cleaning windows, commercial gardening internal cleaning to nursing homes so for me getting on booms waste of time and I've done all that high stuff in cherry puckers don't need to risk me life on that sort of stuff thanks very much, we earn good living in what we do and what we good at.

Mind you I could buy a few of them and hire the gene booms out don't mean I need a license for that now there's a though so you'll can stick
That one in ya pipe & shhhmoke it ha

I don't like negative replies - the guy is bettering himself and you tell him it is a waste of time and then go onto willy wave. I would never mention how much I make on a job, irrespective of how I earn it. There's just no need.

I ain't going to fall out with you, I don't need to.

Put your web site up so we can have a look at the business you have and be inspired by your success.

Each to their own - all the best

All I'm saying Robert is my Opinion good luck to the guy, I feel there's no point well for me as I would do what I've been doing if a job came up like that again which for Me Robert is a rare thing so what I'm saying is I myself wouldn't bother wasting My time and My money in Obtaining the certificate for using platforms ect, ect. Each to there own and you don't need a certificate to become a company and not being a one man band as rc says. There's probably it of peeps
On here that are one man band I was once and like most as that's normally how it works when you start up a company and there's nothing wrong with being a one man band. I earned good money when I was on my own there was less stress than there is now but good luck to who ever is trying to build there business up
