Hi All,

It's been nearly a year since I posted asking questions about how to set up charities and get support for a friend of mine who had a fall and is now paralysed from the neck down.

Thanks for all your advice, I just wanted to post here to update you all with his situation.

He's been living in hospital for nearly a YEAR now. A LOAD of us are doing various things to raise money to enable him to come home. The current goal is £15.000 for a head operated wheelchair. Through the efforts of friends and family organising garden parties and running marathons etc we're up to 8.5k so far, but we've got a long way to go. Sunshine Cleaning had a blog post about him, you can read it here>>>> http://www.sunshine-cleaning.net/3/post/2013/08/the-most-positive-man-i-know.html

So PLEASE, if you can spare a couple of quids for a lovely bloke who was just unfortunate, please click the link here, https://www.facebook.com/darronsfund, and look for the 'donate' tab (mid right of the page, next to 'photos').

I'm WFP but still use ladders for flat roofs, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I have to use them, I think of him.
So please, if you're grateful that you've still got the use of your limbs,

1. Click the link and look for the donate tab.
2. Make a small donation.
3. 'Like' Darronsfund if you're on Facebook, and share the page far and wide, if we all pull together we can make a real difference to Darron.

Thanks for listening, and thanks in advance to those who help out.

Regards,

Jason

Hi we have made a donation, and liked the page and shared the post - hope he reaches his target very soon
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience

Thank you Smudger, that's very kind. Every little bit helps, and EVERY penny goes directly to Darron, unlike some big charities where you're paying for people's wages.

Now you've liked the page you'll get updates, so you'll be able to see exactly when he manages to get what YOU helped him buy.

Thanks again,

Jason

Oh, and in case anyone's interested, and wants to see some blood, sweat, and tears for their cash, you can sponsor me to do a half marathon in Bridlington on the 20th October. I assure you there'll be all three, I'm NOT a runner!

Just leave a note for me on this picture https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=150190495189067&set=a.150190491855734.1073741829.147969832077800&type=1&theater, or contact me through this forum..

You are most welcome. He looks a nice guy. I can't help but think I wouldn't be able to face his predicament in quite the same way as he does.

Again, Thanks goes to whoever just donated, (peasinapod), you're very kind and it's much appreciated.

I know Darron is already overwhelmed by the support his family, friends, and friends of friends have supplied, but to know that random window cleaners on a forum are willing to dig in to help him out will be even more so for him.

Thank you.

first things first, I will donate as soon as I can.
secondly Is there a twitter page or anything? because I am best friends with one of Duncan Bannatynes daughters and he personally uses twitter a lot, so If I asked her nicely she could mayby ask her dad to '' retweet the page'' or ''ask people to donate''?
obviously he has millions of fans so its quite possible that there would be a few donations!!

Thanks mister H20, that's a great idea!

I don't do twitter, (well, I've got an account but didn't get the hang of it..), whaddya think would be best, retweeting Stuarts tweet or setting up a separate twitter account for Darron's Fund?

I've GOT a twitter account, shall I just start using that, or would it be better to set up a new one under the right name of Darronsfund?
Can you tell I really don't do twitter?!

Thanks again to the latest kind donators, Lorna, Pam, Alan, and Michael.
If you all follow the facebook page, you'll get updates on the fund's progress..
So far it's up to £8725, (aiming for £15k), and there's a lot of sponsorship money yet to come in too..

And on that note - I'm running a sponsored half marathon for this cause on October 20th in Bridlington.
If anybody wants to sponsor me that would be marvelous.

Even a couple of quid, if we all pitch in it'll make a REAL difference to an unfortunate windy..
