« on: June 21, 2013, 08:48:52 am »
Just had a call of a custy saying  my bristles are stuck in the frame beading in his Windows. He wants to call the window professionals out. Is this something I can fix myself? The beading has opened up slightly and he thinks the seals are broken even tho he hasn't seen any water inside.. he also thinks the Windows are going to fall out and the burglars are going to get in W T F!!!! what to do???

Go there with ladders - remove bristles - spray hose on windows with him inside looking for leaks - invoice him for your time and new brush

The loose beading is the reason the bristles are there, the brush can't loosen beading that has been correctly installed. If it was, the bristles wouldn't have got stuck in the first place.

Is it any wonder that wfp window cleaning has such a bad reputation
after reading some of these replies.
The customer has every right to complain you left the bristles in his frames.
Doesn't matter if the beading was loose or not you should have removed them.
Call round and explain to him how the beading works and that new windows can only
be removed from inside the house even with the beading removed.
Get a ladder and remove the bristles.
I have a 4.6 metre folding ladder which I carry inside the van its great for when
this happens.

I think it is important to leave a few bristles in the frame so the customer knows I have been, if I cant get a few in I usually kick over a few solar lights .

I think your missing the point! I accept full responsibility for the bristles, even though if the frames were not so  crap it wouldn't of happened. I also trad,a lot and also have experienced problems with customers crap Windows, such as bad rubbers that smear the frames, which incidentally doesn't occur with wfp as much.so having a pop at 1 method over another is besides the point! I fully intend to resolve the matter with the customer, I just don't want someone giving a quote for new windows unless there's a simpler cheaper resolution.we all clean Windows, just in different ways, my customer skills are as good as any, wether I've a squeegee or pole in hand.

I wasnt saying he shouldnt remove the stray bristles, I was simply pointing out that he didnt cause any damage, it was already there.

The reason the customer had a complaint is due to a lack of understanding of the product the have bought. These frames seal can never leak from the use of a W F Pole, unless the glass was loosely installed in the first place. Broken seals are just a word thrown about by many and not fully understood. There a two seals in a glass window frame one between the two sheets of glass and one keeping the glass seated in the frame. The latter do leak and have a drain at the bottom of each frame to carry this water out at the bottom of each frame. The seal between the two sheets of glass which if leaking will create the aper and water between the glass is the second seal these mostly give in with age.

Simply put there is no damage.

I would have thought all of us should take a window apart to see the inside workings of a window so we familiarize yourselves with what we work with on a daily basis. Having inside knowledge is key to keeping your customers happy when you are dealing with a complaint. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Firstly this is not a dig at water fed pole cleaning or trad.
I was getting at the blame the customer attitude because the frames are not perfect.
This was from the replies and not your post.
I understand that there are customers who complain about everything and nothing
but in this case he did have a point.
Its our job to know when a frame might be problem not the customers so why would you
expect him to replace your brush.
A lot of new customers to wfp cleaning methods don't understand it and can go overboard
when something happens.
Again its our job to assure them that its does give excellent results when done right.

I am pretty sure the invoice for time and a new brush from Ian was tongue in cheek.

Go around with ladder - remove bristles - spray hose on window whilst customer checks for any leaks. - job sorted

Yes the customer has every right to mention that bristles were hanging out the window frame.
But the alarm bells should be ringing as soon as he mentioned his concerns of the window falling out and burglars entering his property.
I mean REALLY?
The blokes a fruitcake, and if it were me I would remove the bristles and give him his money back in full.
Never to return again.........seriously!
