Alex , am I right in thinking that to extend my clx 18 to a 22 I would need a section 5 extension
?

Yes you are right.

I've not been following the forum so much recently as I thought everything had been said that *could* be said.  It looks like the smart clamps have proven me wrong  :) .  This could be the answer to my CLX27 issues as I find that I have to clamp it with each section extended a few inches.  Presumably it's not such a hard surface as the SLX.  It's a funny thing because I've had clamps on my mind recently.  I was going to ask Alex if there was a way of including some type of better gripping material between clamp and pole.  I was also going to suggest that the "tightener" could be made in a way that made it easier to tighten after a certain point e.g. made with something sticking out rather than totally round.  The smart clamps seem to have superceded such things though.
Can the smart clamps be fitted to an Xtreme pole.  i.e. is there enough play in them to overcome the fact that the ends of sections have a larger diameter? (I have an earlier 48 ft model without any half way points).
If this is done by spring, I imagine it must be a very strong spring, particularly on the end clamp that hold brushes and screw threads.

The Smart Clamp upgrade kit will fit the Xtreme 48 Poles - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Gardiner-Smart-Clamp-DIY-Upgrade-Kits-ClampII_SET.html

It will not allow it to clamp anywhere along its length though.

Yes you can add the CLX extension#7 to the the CLX27 giving you about a 31ft pole - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/The-New-CLX-Extension-Sections-CLX_EXT.html
Thanks alex.
Any idea when i will be able to buy some new bits?
Thanks

These extensions should be with us in about 10 days now.

Hi Alex, I am going to order the smart clamps for my 2 year old slx, but I also have a slx35 which I bought from a forum member a couple of years ago, will I be able to order clamps for this?

Just looked at Gardiners website, the base pole price is cheaper but things that were previously included are now extra such as pole hose etc.
Having said that you do get a brush and gooseneck included which makes it a better deal than previously.
Also the fitted flow valve, has gone up from £9 odd to £13 odd.
There's so many options now I'm finding it very confusing.

As you have seen we have worked hard to bring the price of the base pole itself down to the best value possible - this is particularly noticeable on the larger sizes of the SLX poles.

There are many options now all of which are charged for as extras, this is so that clients only pay for what they want and will use. Previously all clients ended paying for hose and gooseneck even though they often already had these items.

There are a lot of options, but if you work your way through them in logical order they do allow for almost all permutations catering to the requirements of most of our clients. Basically choose a brush and gooseneck, then choose hose and connector and the job is done.

IMAO when you buy a pole it will be easier and not so confused to choose only a brush and gooseneck, then choose hose and connector. Not have some many options. Just my opinion anyway  ;D

The push-fit valves have risen from the stand-alone price of £9.50 to the fitted price of £13.12 this is because when fitting them to the pole hose other costs are incurred such as:
Slightly longer hose pack
2x Stem to Barb adapter (not always needed for push-fits with our pole hose, but we fit them to save any pull-out issues)
2x O clips

It is fractionally cheaper to buy the hose packs and the flow valves and make them yourself, it depends if convenience or cost is the priority.
We decided to let clients have the full range of options.

I think that you are probably right. I have removed the options to choose other types of goosenecks and brushes.

There are now just the following options:

Inclusive carbon gooseneck and free brush.
Quick-LoQ Gooseneck (optional)
Quick-LoQ Brush (optional)
Fanjet option
Hose option
Connector option
Flow Valve option

What if you just want a bare pole?

This is the basic option and is the starting point for all our new poles (apart from those with free carbon gooseneck and brush).

For instance if you go to the page for a CLX18 - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/CL-X-Carbon-Composite-Pole-CLX_18.html

When these are available to buy (Tuesday 7th 8.00am) if you simply clicked the Add to Cart button you would buy a CLX18 bare pole with no hose, connector gooseneck or brush.
