The resin vessels are not as robust as you think. The water runs in down the tube then up through the resin or vice versa. If all the seals are not fitting right, if say they had been frozen and the ice had deformed the riser tube, the water will be running through without going anywhere near the resin.

That sums up what I meant. ;) All the seals in a vessel (vessels differ internally) must be sealing properly for it to do it's job effectively, if not then you get problems.

Either sheer coincedance, or not, but I took a reading of my water today and it was 001, it was def 000 at the beginning of the week  ;D

My vessel was frozen so the myth could be true  ;D

in future always bring DI vessels inside overnight during very cold nights.i never leave them in the van or outside.my bag or resin however is always stored in my storage space outside and it always works fine when i come to use it.

I took it all to bits today
1- Resin in the water tank
2-Resin in Pump pre filter
3-Riser basket inside DI full of Resin

Emptied tank and flushed out, cleaned all the above and while fitting tap to tank outlet managed to cross thread fitting,so ordered new one next day delivery, hope to get it all back working again tomorrow.

Im hoping the problem was the riser basket was full of resin and unable to rise to the top, allowing resin to flow into the water tank.

Got to the bottom of the problem, riser basket was full of resin and unable to rise and seal off,so resin and untreated water were flowing into my tank, had nothing to do with the Frost at all and probably caused by myself  shaking the resin vessel. ::)roll :)
