Today I received my renewal for insuring my Fiat Scudo which has a Pure Freedom crash tested system installed. I have over 10 years NCD. The quote was £700. My brother in law has the same van but is a decorator - his insurance is under £300 with a different company. So I decided to shop around. I called 2 of the large insurers and both told me that they don't offer cover because of the modification of the water tank installation. The company who I am insured with currently told me that because of the installation of the crash tested system the premiums are much higher. So if you are driving around with your water tank being held to the bulkhead by a strap (or less insome cases) you will be rewarded with lower premiums. Seems to me that the insurance companies are not interested in those who do the responsible thing as long as they can falsely hike up their premiums
