Steve, unless you have had loads of e-mails with what you consider to be the right price then why not be a bit more open and give a ballpark figure for how much you want to pay and also how long it should take roughly? At the moment all you seem to my (in my. Opinion) is create a auction an highest bidder wins, the thing is everyone is going in as high as possible as they don't want to be caught out due to not knowing how long it's going to take

Just put the rough time and price up and then I'm sure you,ll get a much more positive response

I won't do that, because as you say, I'm getting loads of emails. The response is very positive. I appreciate your suggestion though. Thank you.  :)

There is a good possibility in the next 6 months that we will be getting about 30 schools in your area from one of our current contracts. If you drop me an email through my spc site with the areas you can cover, I will keep your details on file. Look out for future threads also.  :)

Call me a cynic but I have a few questions. Feel free to answer or completely ignore as you wish Steve.

Why are you not cleaning these large jobs yourself? Distance? Manpower?

Is it in the public domain any company that have 'won' one of these contracts from you? If not then why not?

Tell me to mind my own business, that's fine, but to me it looks a lot like you could be using the more expensive quotes to compare less favourably against your own in order to secure the jobs for yourself.

Another member on here called archer does e same. Comes on every so many months and asks for people to e-mail day rates and what they can do. I know loads of people have given him this info yet no-one has ever got any work? Suspicious?  or simply just finding out local companies prices so he can use this info for his own good?

I guess that's why the people who get the job are the ones with experience.

You cant look at this like its a domestic property with 20 panels on the roof. For that you need to charge £2-3 per panel. Because its take time to get there, unload the van, clean them, pack away etc.

With 1000 panels you can drastically lower your price because you are stacking the work.

In the grand scheme of things I guess its best that you guys who are moaning don't get the job, simply because you don't have the experience.

No chance!!!!!!!!

960 / 4 = 240 panels per hour

4 a minute every minute for 4 hours, good luck!

You couldn't even wet them all in 4 hours, nevermind clean them.

I will answer the questions, I have nothing to hide. I am not cleaning SOME of these jobs myself due to distance mainly. I am in the midlands, so am well placed for lots of these sites, but not the ones in the south east or north east. I can cover the south west sites.
But man power does come into it. We are sorting a site with 17,000 panels on and another for 12,000. Plus we have other lines to our work. I would love to clean every single panel on every site in this single contract, but can't.

Why are companies that we currently deal with not in the public domain? That is their choice. I have said that I am happy for them to say who they are, but if they choose not to, that is up to them. I am also happy if they don't want to say who they are.

ALL sites that I have asked quotes for we have already secured. This is not a mission for me to guess prices. I did the number crunching years ago and I know I am where I need to be.

I hope this answers your questions and those of some of the other cynics there may be out there.

I agree with all of the above Alex. We can soon sift through those who can and those who can't.
