Best way to get water from my IBC static tank to the van?
« on: January 04, 2013, 09:17:18 pm »
I've just landed on a dead cheap IBC 1000L tank that I've cleaned up and I'm looking to use it as a static container in the garage for my pure water. What's the best way for me to get the water out and in to containers in my van fairly quickly?

Thanks in advance,

Duncan

pure freedom but use a good quality pump  sewage pumps are good go to machine mart these pumps pass through thicker microns which is rare fo pure water but the shaft seal is good qualityI've had mine 2 years this is the most important part of the set up between I.b.c and van

If you are only filling 25 litre containers and your tank has a tap on the bottom use the tap with a some 1/2" hose .

I know a guy who has his tank elevated about 2 ft of the ground and he fills his 300 litre flat tank in van without a pump and just connects to tap as mentioned above .

His 1000 ltr static tank is always full to the top and it takes about 40 mins to fill his 300 ltr tank . Mike

sub pump from wickes.com layflat hose from b&q and jub clips, all in about £70

if the ibc has the smaller hose just cut a v in the toip thats what I did when I used ibcs for static

will fill a 300 tank in about 5 mins.

My pump is still going strong after 3.5 years, good enbough for the job.

Next one will be a stronger one, as filling from empty can take a while, well, I say a while, 10 mins. I'm impatient.  ;D

Something like this mate?

http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/transfer-pump-kit-p-314.html

This is looking like the best option for us at the moment and thanks for the link Marko. I'll give purefreedom a ring on Monday and check the units dimensions as I'm not prepared to start cutting chunks out of the tank to fit it.

Damn shame there isn't a more affordable in-line option though where I could utilise the existing outlet. :(

I would be very very surprised if that can do anywhere near 100l a min with 1inch hose Duncan, if it can thats a cracking deal.

What size is the lid to your IBC ?

If you want one for less than £90 then here is one for you, it's a bit slower at 233lt a minute,

You can use the tank outlet. This is what I do. Cleaningspot sell this type of pump though they are more expensive.

way to slow.

what are you asking ?

I gravity fill my 400l truck tank via 2 inch hose in about one minute.
Not really felt the need to go any faster than that...

I use an exterior pump from Lidl when they were on offer. Brilliant, no cutting of tanks or lids required. Very fast too does my 650l in about five to ten minutes.
