ladder spikes

stupid comment from a newbie! >:(

Hold on Ben, that member has been in this game a few years now. What's the "newbie" comment about? He's actually been in the business longer than you. Or do you mean forum newbie, in which case, you must be more knowledgable because you post more often then him?? Get a grip.
Regarding ladders, it's up to the individual what they want to work with and how they get their work done. It makes no difference to people who use WFP what trad people do.
The thread doesn't have to turn into a WFP v Trad thread. It's all been said.

To the OP, hope all goes well.

Sorry to hear about that but can't agree with "All Ladders are dangerous and should never be used" type of sentiments.
People have been using ladders for millenia and will continue to do so.
TBH using ladders on decking is tantamount to asking for it!
Hope he recovers and I'm pretty certain he won't make that mistake again.

So the "newbie" part was a bit off target too then. We all make comments on here, but some are mis-understood.

Am just glad I changed to wfp when I did cause ladders are just an accident waiting to happen
that they are mate, everyone (everyone with a heart) is always sorry. I guinuinly am too don't like on see anyone hurt.

But if you put a post up saying ladders shouldn't be used read the replies you get and then the replies from people trying to justify their actions.

A lot of people say ladders are not dangerous which is true its the people on them. If we were not on them the danger is not there ( that's the bit they seem to miss)

Yep, off we go, about every 2 weeks or so it's the ladders are dangerous routine.
Now justify why you posted that.
 It's all about safety.
ladders kill rabbits.
Walking under ladders makes your ears grow.
I've asked WFPers on here before why theyre so worried about ladders.

The fact is, so long as some windies use ladders, and WFPers run around spouting that ladders are banned to their custies, then it makes their custies think they've been lied to by there WFP windy.

We get this cr@p every couple of weeks, and now here we go again. Next thing is, is window cleanin a trade? Should we put signs out to warn people we are in the area. Will custies cancel f I don't have Ionics kit or a sign written van.

I'll just nip off to make a brew and enjoy the match eh?

Get a grip lads. Keep it simple, some people use WFP, some use ladders. Some trip over hoses and some fall off ladders. Jeez

I don't lie about ladders, I use them ( very rarely now for good reason) I was trad for years before wfp nothing more to say about it. I'm not anti ladders
no need to justify just enjoy the footy :)

For God's sake, I didn't say YOU lie. I said WFPers run around lying to custies by saying ladders are banned. I had someone visiting one of my custies here last year. I'm on my ladder working and out he comes to tell me ladders are banned, his windie told him. ;)

I educated the poor chap, who it turned out after a short convo' wasn't too happy with WFP results. Now maybe his windie had the wrong brush, or no van with pretty writing on it and no Iconics logo, who knows, but whatever, the custie said he was happier with the trad guy he had before.

Now before we dive into the big debate, I'm not saying trad is better. I don't care what other windies use. If you earn with a pole or ladder, I don't care. If you've get the best kit, and best van and safe safe safe everything and all the whistles and bells, great.

I've never lost a custy because of someone else's gear. If anyone does, take a look at how you work and see if you've got a problem or the custy is a plonker etc.

I've used ladders for over 20 years on and off. Had one fall in my 2nd year, my own stupidity. Nothing badly hurt.

having said all that, I've no intention of going WFP as I've no intention of cleaning windows for much longer. I make much more money doing carpet & upholstery cleaning.  :D

If ladders are sooooo risky then why do they run courses about using them safely?
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

it is basically a spike on the bottom of each style and it will dig in and grip almost anywhere, I do say almost though it isn't perfect, can't find a link for ones I have, but gavcam posted a link to them a few days back on a question I asked to another one
