Yesterday my daughter called in a local guy who does bonnett cleaning, the carpet in lounge is a mushroom shag pile +- 3years old abour 5m x3m- he pre sprayed, bonnet cleaned in all just over 35min charged £60.00 and left. The carpet was quite wet and I would have estimated at least 5-7 hours to dry.
I then redid the carpet with my HWE system after fully rinsing out the recovery tank and the dirt, sand and masses of old carpet fibre extracted was unbelievable. I did this as I was thinking of purchasing a dry rotary system but now that will not happen. I do use my rotary machine on commercial jobs followed by HWE and get great results

Did he not vacuum? Probably why you got so Many loose fibres

We called him in just to observe, he advertises "carpets dry in 1 hour" "best clean you will ever have" we were just interested to see how he steps up to his commitments The carpets looked ok -ish but not convinced it is the best system for a shag pile and deffinately not dry in one hour!! and yes he did vacuum 1st. I'm just more convinced to stick with HWE

Don't blame the system. He just did a crap job.

It's the same argument as when you come across a HWE job that has taken five days to dry and the suite now has mould on it (yes I've seen one like this). It does not mean HWE is bad, just the operator was lousy.

Wow- Gary I fully agree with you dry fusion, encapulation, HWE they all have their place and results are in the hands of the technition their knowhow commitment and dedication. I have used a rotary sytem for years and always will. I guess I might have stirred up a hornets nest here not meaning to however I have preferred to Use HWE on a shag pile or possible a encap system which I know very little about and have never seen in action. The chap who did my daughters carpet just did not do as he advertises far from it and as far as advertising "the best clean you will ever get" well we will leave itb there.

Again it comes back to not being commited to one tool/system and having the systems to handle any combination of carpets/soiling.

I just did a flat with the bonnet method, quite long pile. I did think "this needs HWE" however I was amazed with the results it took about an hour and was nearly dry when I left. However if I could have I would have extracted it and I'm sure If I went back and extracted it now I would have dirty water. But its what the custy wanted!

I think I will always prefer HWE as it is the ONLY method which extracts the soils out of the carpet, however all the other methods have their place, the key is to have all the tools available. The ultimate method IMO is HWE with a bonnet afterwards.

Incorrect.......

Padding extracts soils out of the carpet as well.......... The amount depends on the operator the chemicals and the method used.......

I wouldn't recommend bonneting a shag pile. Must have been a nightmare. Anyway the pre vacuuming with bonneting is the most important part.

Sounds like  he didn't ring his pads out very well. 7 hours? 

What it does show is that there are plenty of people running around doing amazingly poor jobs, yet they are in business and making money.

what i want to know is if i was in a fight with someone similar build and size and i had a hot water extraction machine with wand and my opponant had a rotary bonnet machine with pad and wringer. who would win, now that really is HWE V's Bonnet.

but the pads make large frisbee's and can be hoiked from a distance..

Shag pile are a nightmare even hoovering for ages and ages doesn't get all the bits they just hide away lol iv'e done quite a few with my DF and i end up hoovering bits again if its a rug though a good shake outside is best then vac.

Hector, I will agree that bonneting does extract some soils however in my opinion HWE extracts a lot more soils. As a customer I would likely be happy with the visual result of either method if caried out well but as an operator I feel more comfortable with HWE.
