2nd time ive seen this problem, you can see where the sofa sits, as well as the rug. Carpet looks like its been burnt or something paranormal :
Its all over apart from where the furniture sits, here the colour is perfect?

Approx 100 metres from a busy road. Would uv make it go so dark?

Is it a wool mix?
I'd guess that one of the colour dyes is weak the darker dye then becomes more prominent or that the colour dye is weak and has changed in colour.

Uv damage.
Polyprop takes on a greenish tinge.
Nylon turns black eventually.

Synthetics can change colour pretty quick. I have a 5 floor building on yearly contract and the top floor has deep red carpets along the corridoors, most areas have changed colour to brown even the bottom end of the corridoor that has little light affecting it has brown dark edges. UV plays wierd tricks with pigments altering the colours both lighter and darker.

I concur, UV damage. First time I saw it I was convinced it was soiling and would clean. Unfortunately I told the customer this too. Oops

Just looks like a really dirty bit where footfall has been, in between the like-new clean bits that have been covered
Photo too small to see anything really
