i think your looking at a 3 year ban and you will have to take a medical before you can get your driving licence back.this is a tough wake up call for you mate.

i bet this wasnt the first time you ve drunk far too much and got behind the wheel.my advice would be to give up booze ALTOGETHER and stay away from it.

your insurance with be sky high as well when you get back driving again.

i think you need to consider paying someone to work with you who has a car and roof rack or consider getting a 3 wheel bike like the one in the photo above.although it will be tough in the winter months. :( :(

you could leave your ladders and bucket at a customers house on your compact work and get a bus/taxi to and from your work.

collecting will be a problem as well unless you use BACS/SAE.

the only other option would be to drive illegally and just use your car for work.dodgy but some window cleaners have done it and got away with it.

Great advice Daz!

Of course it's not.  Imagine what happens if he crashed into you.  You think his insurance will cover it?  ;D

And imagine the pressure and worry of getting caught?  That'd drive you to drinking I'm sure, not that I think Jackal needs much help with that.

I trust all the people with harsh comments have never done anything wrong? He knows he has made a mistake and is asking for advice. It was a brave thing to admit to what he did on here IMO as so many are whiter than white.
Jackal, ignore tghe negatives there has been some good advice, take it, along with any punishment the court dishes out,
Good Luck anyway

I totally agree, what he did was wrong, he has been caught and will be dealt with.

I am sure that all the ones who want to throw away the key, always drive below the speed limit, never use the phone either on hands free, and don't smoke in their vechicles and drive perfectly.

Jackal, it sounds like you're more bothered about getting caught than actually drink-driving.
BUT most people would be, because no one was hurt or vehicles damaged. I'm not having a go and take that as a positive; it could have been much worse and how would you have felt then?
What you did was stupid but there is no real harm done.
Learn from it and put it behind you.

I have just been through this in June with a friend of mine. Courts now have a set tariff for drink driving, seemingly they can't deviate from it as they used to after mitigation. Friend got 24 months ban after blowing 135. You can do a course that reduces your ban by 25%. They said they had thought about jail but solicitor said they were just scaremainering. Good luck.

This is a stupid thing to put and is not an option, that is just as bad as drink driving you get banned for a reason (because you should not be on the road)

Yep, actually I dont do any of the above! All the idiots giving this man tea and sympathy just be very grateful he was caught and will be off the roads for a very long time.  >:(

im not an alcholic by the way but i really do need to start slowing down on the weekend binge drinking,

How do you know you're not an alcoholic?  I also didn't think I was an alcoholic for many years - despite being told I was - because I didn't fit my own concept of what an alkie was.  I thought alkies drank in the mornings and were lying in the gutter by lunchtime; screaming abuse at buses and pigeons, and because I wasn't like that (yet), I didn't think I was an alkie.  I thought I had all these external problems causing me to drink.

But being an alkie is a bit like being pregnant as in you are either pregnant or you're not pregnant, the only difference is that depending on the stage of our alcoholism, it shows more in some than in others.  It is something that progressively gets worse, never better.

This is an alcoholic:

Quote
If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit entirely, or if when drinking, you have little control over the amount you take, you are probably alcoholic.

But rarely does a problem drinker want to stop drinking until it's beating the life out of him/her, and they try to get other plans in place such as this:

i really do need to start slowing down on the weekend binge drinking,

I don't expect this post to give you any blinding flash of insight - and as you say, you may not even be an alcoholic - but I hope to plant a seed in your mind, just in case.  If you find alcohol is giving you problems, there will be an AA meeting close to you that'd be happy to have you drink their coffee and listen in.

I'll get off your back now!  ;D

jackel   buy a push bike and fit a two weeled trailer on the back you will then have enough length for the ladders and be legal  8)  good luck   and forget the fashion police on here  >:(

Ignoring the moral or legal aspects of this thread, I agree with Mikey.  Years ago I used a bike for my window cleaning round and pedalled all over the Medway Towns.  I carried the ladder on my shoulder, had a bucket on the back carrier and scrim tucked in my pocket.

These days a trailer would be a better (and legal) method, but it is eminently possible to run a good lucrative business without any sort of motorised transport.

We are all victims of the persuasive power of marketing - making us believe our lives would be unbearable without the latest 'must have' technological advances for our businesses.

A window cleaner round here lost his licence, about 20 years ago.

So, as he couldn't drive a car he bought a horse and cart. His round kept going for the duration and he even got his story in the SUN. Great advertising!
