Pics of Ashbys CFM testing
« on: September 04, 2012, 08:37:30 pm »
Apparently , whenever someones goes to Ashbys to look at a machine , enforcer / Ninja , and ask  " what CFM has she got "  they oblige with a CFM gauge test showing
200 CFM  as shown in the pic below .

But Ashbys machines are configured in ' Series '
But as many people know , a series motor configuration is associated with low CFM

 .... so a twin series 5.7  should have 100CFM .

An example of this can be seen by hitting the Amtechuk banner above , which shows the CFM of the series twin 5.7 powerflites to be 101cfm .

Of course the Holy grail for a two vac machine would be to have what Ashbys test would suggest ( 200cfm / 230" lift ) high lift and high cfm at the same time .

But thats why we have Parallel and series machines ... because we cant have both at same time .

So can anyone suggest what Ashbys are up to here .

I suspect sorcery and trickery !     :D

I’m no legal expert but that could be slanderous. Is there a rule on how long the hose needs to be.

when i first started Bought an all in one machine well forums did not exist.  Strange enough I was recommended them by both Prochem and AshcombeI queried pick up and was told it had same performance as bigger machines as it had less distance to travel up the hose.

Ian , im no legal expert either or i probably wouldn't say it  ;D

no the hose length should have no bearing on these figures .

The machine has two bog standard 5.7s .

If u arrage them in parallel you get 200cfm and 137" lift

If you arrange them in series you get  100cfm and 220" lift

there is no other way to configure two motors ...

So Ashbys always choose a series setup with their machines ... and state on the website it has 230 or so " lift as you'd expect ...

but then this cfm gauge shows 200cfm

so that makes 230" lift and 200cfm

thats what i cant understand ....

Very interesting.  Something does indeed not add up!

Would be interesting to hear the xplanation of that one.

By the way it does matter how long the hose is, but not really going to show a difference over a couple of feet or so ;)

If you stuck that meter on to the end of 25ft of hose it would read considerably less ;)

Carpet cleaning is full of BS  the suppliers can say what ever they like as no one will hold them accountable for what they say.

If you think  ashbys are deliberately misleading people contact trading standards, I bet they will have a team of investigators knocking on thier door within hours.....NOT!

Yes Jim , i know a longer hose length would effect test results but i didn't want to confuse things any further  :)

I wont resort to trading standards Mike lol ,  out of curiosity I did politely e-mail Ashbys mon asking for a technical explanation .. but i got no reply .

I think its hilarious if they touch on series and parallel in one of their courses ... and they supply a totally conflicting number during their sales pitch .

Perhaps they became fed up with buyers asking about 6.6s and been  put off because they heard the Jag has several hundred cfm and the lift of a truckmount  etc , the shysters behind that machine have provided inaccurate and deceptive performance info ever since it arrived .... so if u cant beat them , join them .
