Just a quick well my wife is waiting downstair to go for our 11 th anniversally dinner.

Does import machines or equipment US more cost effective or is waste of time?
I know somebody has discussed this but i couldn't their topic.

congrats on your anniversary.i have bought a rotovac360i and some hard floor tools in from the states.To be honest if i could have got everthing over here i would not have bothered.The cost of delivery and duty was hardly any difference.I  d like to hear whats the story with tm do.

You don't know what import duty you're going to get hit with till you get it.  With a lot fo thngs it will work out to close to the UK price to be bothered with it.

Delivery can take donkey's years

You have no warranty support

Electric is 110v in the USA

If not, there's some bargains been offered on used TMs lately - can't see importing one being any cheaper than what's around.

I am actually looking both option, for just a few years/hours, TM in US seem to be a bit cheaper compared to UK, especially in dollar exchange.

Steve Gunn was/is selling a TM for £1000, Alltec have a van and a TM looks in great condition for £7000.

Plus there's the ones that pop up on eBay almost weekly (although there may be more risk buying this way of course).

Thanks Ashwhite, I had my eye on Steve one, I actually made an offer initially which he declined.
I wanted to contacted him on the weekend regarding postage, but it seem it sold early which am happy for both the buyer and seller, Well I believe in destiny, it wasn't meant  to be mine.

When I started out I asked questions like this but in the end made my own mind up (by far the best way to go about things imo). The same rules apply buying anything from overseas - if its something you must have to repair a machine and its not available here then you MUST go there - I had to buy a clutch for a pump that I could not obtain here so I went to the states - US companies are generally not that good or experienced at supplying things overseas - they have such a huge domestic market they can pick and choose - quite apart from freight you will pay import duties vat on an element of that and local carriage - if its small and you use USPS you may get away more cheaply than a freight forwarder but if its something big like a TM you will need the latter - a local FF will explain all - at the end of the day if you want any sort of warrranty on expensive kit you have to buy local - returning stuff to the US is not an option you want to deal with - if its second hand then you wont get one anyway and with the pound/dollar rate there is some good stuff over there... I think we've all thought it would be nice to import a Butler system in a big van but I havent heard of anyone who has - if they have maybe they could take it to the CIU vanvest thingy... I will be selling a low mileage van/TM package there btw if anyone's in the market...

di it and save loads theres a good few ways to lower the duty if your swiched on we got two shiped over the same time we shipped out vw camper and saved loads and loads you can get part containers as well saveing you even more

Hi Steve - its the blue master van (only 40k), I dont think you saw it when you were down as my son came with me that day - It has a 24hp PowerClean machine I bought from a ChemDry guy - low hours but to be honest it never gets really hot - have not as yet worked out why - but I don't mind selling it to someone I know! - I'm sure it can be sorted - you can come down and and see it when I've tidied it up - we use it for hard floors and to carry the pressure washing gear round. I was going to keep using it for that this summer and sell it in September so if you can hang on...

If you know anyone in the states, get them to send it over and mark it
"commercial samples only"
I prefer to buy local tho, we still need the suppliers here, and should support them.
Just use it for stuff that is difficult to source here
