i beg to differ!!!
royak founded in 1905.....
Kirby.......
The first model he developed in 1906 employed water for dirt separation. After noticing the inconvenience of emptying dirty water, he began pursuing better ideas. In 1907, he developed a vacuum that pushed dirty air into a cloth bag that filtered out the dirt.
so although the Royal started 1 year earlier it does not say what actual design they used but kirby states it used the origanal design of the kirby in 1907...... but if I'm honest perhaps they saw the design of the first Royal and copied it ....so I'll give this one to you and admit i might be wrong

By the way, Murray Spangler’s “ suction sweeper” was the first [American] electric vacuum cleaner. Some accounts credit the Royal Company with this distinction, saying their cleaner was introduced in 1905. This is incorrect. Well, partly incorrect. The Royal Company did introduce a sweeper in 1905 but it was a cylindrical, upright, hand-pumped model, not an electric one.

Has anyone tested these two vacuum cleaners side by side? i have a Kirby Ultimate G model and it would give a B36 a run for its money in terms of performance... sure its heavy compared to the Sebo but then its made from metal and not plastic.
