Good to know, thank you. Thinking of moving on from Sebo. Can you recommend a Kirby model? Sentria seems to be latest model.

Mike you've never used a Royal.  They are not a copy of anything, they are just a vac motor & beater bar with a handle and a bag.

Equal or better performance but about half the weight.

Mine's 6 years old and still tip top, how is that poor exactly?

p.s. Solution don't do them any more unfortunately, I don't think you can buy them over here any more.  They are owned by Dirt Devil so maybe searching through that avenue might bring something up?

I have used one, you cannot say that it's  a coincidence it looks like a Kirby, the makers have tried to ride on the reputation that the Kirby has.

No way are they equal or better than a Kirby, but as I have not done a side by side trial we will have to agree to disagree on that. I will try and find the specs of both to see how they compare,  but like you say it's half the wieght so it must be a wonder of engineering it it is more powerfull.

When I use the word 'poor' I don't refer to its reliability or longevity....I'm sure they are a well built machine.

Mike, what shape would you make an upright vacuum then?

By that rationale there must be dozens of vacuum manufacturers making "modern" plastic machines that are all a copy of each other!

Since when has weight equalled power? ;D The weight of the kirby is its downfall

I think Royal were making vacuums in 1904 or something, not sure how far back the kirby machines go ;)

Ah here we go, Royal founded 1905

Kirby founded  at least 10 years later

So the kirby is a poor copy of the royal  :-* :P :-* :P :-*
