The question was Which Gutter Vac for Domestics?
In that respect the Omnivac is in my opinion too big, too expensive and too heavy. 110v is useless for domestic because you will have to lug a massive genny about for every job.
If you are running a petrol generator inside a van then you will have a fire hazard and a carbon monoxide hazard.

I read the post from my phone early, fire hazard yes if not by an open door.

I dont take geni out of the van unless Darren is with me as your right it is heavy, I have enough cable to not need to on most jobs
110v is safe on domestics this is why I use it

takes 20 mins to set up and is very heavy and a PITA to move around while you are doing it, suck out debris and 20 mins to put away.

all in 1 hours work,

run up a ladder and do the same job in 20mins no tools heavy poles or genny to lug about and be concerned with,

town house or no ladder access use a smaller vac like a clarke 30 chuck the pole up plug it in and you are done and back in the van in 30 mins.

I have both a clarke 30 and an omni and lots of experience sucking out domestic and commercial gutters with both

as i shouted previously

dude if it takes you 20 mins to set up and the same to put away, give me a call and I will show you how to do it in less than half that time, you must work very very slow, take out vac, take out poles, put poles up start geni, 5/6 mins 20 is a little ott.

I am not saying to get an omin vac as there are others out there that can do the job alot of the time, but 20mins each way your talking out of your backside sorry, no offense intended.

Also what happens if a customer is not in ? I can see your points, but I would rather no I can do a job when I want to do it than rely on others.

I would be interested to get a small one as an add on, but I would still want a geni as I dont like to step backwards

I've just purchased a Omni, very slightly used with washer, I have a good mix of commercial & Domestic, this is a long term investment and a door opener!

I was talking to a commercial customer today and his eye lit up when I was explaining the system to him, so much so, that he's now talking to the facilities manager.

The stuff is big, only had a little play at home on the weekend, but doing a 2 floor mill at the w-end, the poles are heavy, but I'm looking at an alternative to them already. The Genny gives complete freedom to book customers and get on with it.

I'd agree with that, take the artic flex out, untangle it, take it to the back of the house, return for the vac, hump it out of the van, wheel it round the back, return for the hose and poles if you can, connect it all up, return to start the generator up, walk back to the vac, try and start it, realise the rcd is switched off, return to the generator and flick the switch over. Clean the gutters then shift the whole lot to the front of the house, do the fronts then wait for the generator to cool down before loading stuff around it. Try and empty the vac. Everything is double the weight it needs to be.
With a small vac it's just grab and go - one hand for the vac and another for the extension reel.
Total pain in the arse. Gives the neighbours a good laugh though.
If you've got a Darren then you've got to pay him too. My vac didn't come with a Darren.

Lol marketting you make that sound hard work. Darren is paid anyway and gutters are extras so class that as a bonus. I agree is heavy but I never get laughed at when using it, lighter poles would be good and I know sl2 poles can be used when the poles I have end there life then I will replace.

Thanks for the offer of aloowing me some of your time for me to call you mr ww but i think ill pass , my opinion is that you have shelled out a few grand on your complete omni setup including rediculously powered pressure washer and probably other needless and expensive add ons that you dont need etc and you are determined that it will work for you so i wont stop you in your quest ,
 though sometimes it is good to realise that a purchase however expensive was not what you thought it would be and re-think.
IMO and a lot of others on here using an omni for domestics is like using a sledgehammer to crack an egg

i only got the omni vac a few years back now they were the only ones that were good back then.

Although I do have the pressure washer they sell or did sell, I dont know as I didnt get that from them, but thats for surface cleaning way to powerful for gutters etc.

I am now upset you turned down my offer  

I use the omni on domestic and commercial so all good there it has paid for itself so all is good, I got used to using it, so is quick enough to set up, gutter cleaning is not our main business if it was I would maybe look for easier ways.

I know there are others that are lighter which is all good and will keep an eye out as I want another, but again I would want 110v not 240 although I could get a cable to change this.

I have the karcher 48 from gutter cleaning systems, bought with poles and a genny, can't remember price, around £700 for the full set up. I use it all the time, plenty of power, works a treat on domestics, not to big and the genny is not to heavy!! its great to have the genny so you don't have to worry about power. On the commercial side of things, i've use the Karcher on office blocks, 3 story, just like a big house!! arms take a beating tho!!! all other commercail i've done i've just used acces platforms. One other thing, don't worry about a bullet cam, the mirrors you get from gutter cleaning systems are great!! quick to use, and you can see much more than you think, you can even show the customer, i have a spare clx22 that i use with the mirror, i take this along when i quote. The only thing i would like to change is the vac hose, it has a mind of its own!!! but thats the only draw back for me!! hope this helps!!!

any tips on using the mirror?

i use my mirror on a clx 22 with a standard gooseneck, clip mirror on to that then move around till you get the right angle, does take some gettting used to but once mastered its so much quicker than a cam. I use mine as im cleaning also, i vac a section of gutter then check with mirror, i've found it quicker than using a cam

I just love these threads 

such a load of BS spouted about how long an Omnivac takes to set up etc.....

we have the whole thing up and running in less than 5 mins  - quicker than getting a ladder off the old Mondeo 

Genny in the van on wheels and operated by the open  sliding side door

i feel it's not right to use customers lekky + your stuck if they are out/forget to leave you a supply
Vac's are far better at clearing gutters than by hand - more importantly SAFER


If you never intend to do anything but small domestic then get a cheap vac - but you need a larger vac for serious stuff
weather that be Omni - Eastern trading or one of those big green things

we have an Omni and it doesn't matter if the job is short,tall,large or small we can clear it

I'm not seeing an issue running a genny out the back of (my) a van. I use a tranny van, back doors open to let the lead out and side one open too. I don't think i'm gonna need a carbon dioxide meter before i get back in it?

I see Omni have now gone as low as 1000 Watt kits.
Vindicated our 1400 watt kits.
Sorry about the phones, we have moved into a new unit, I keep forgetting to put the phone through!!
