To run a professional business you don't have to be just Wfp or just trad, you have to use both.
It's horses for course and that's a fact trad can't go three stories,

3 stories here every week on ladders and plenty like me im sure

this proves the point about picking at things, this was only one example, im sure if you put a best practise in, with duty of care you wouldnt be using ladders to three stories.
im sure ladders to 20ft isnt the safest thing in the world its a long drop.

does your insurance company know that you go three stories on ladders. mine ask percentage of ladder - wfp and height limits are in place

my ladder insurance is for any height,i asked about it and had it confirmed.however im only insured for a cherry picker working at  under 3 metres in height .
by coincidence yesterday i happened to be in a supply shop to get a squeegee channel and the staff were parcelling up a big ladder ,ready to mail it out to somebody . they were wrapping it in cardboard plus shrink wrap , just an observation i made

I just go out in the morning with the intention of returning with some money. I have found that if I clean their windows people are much more inclined to give me their money, but I'm not a window cleaner, oh no!. I see my job as collecting in the money, the window cleaning is just an inconvenient task I have to perform first.

My old dad used to say  "If you want to find the easiest way of doing a job, give it to the lazyest bloke"

which is basically why when WFP came along I saw the advantages of it.

I'm still working on trying to find a way of collecting the money without cleaning the windows but its proving difficult. Until I do its WFP for me

Most trad cleaners will spend their spare time down the pub drinking their money, or down the post office drawing their benefits, or repairing their knackered old mondeo.
Don't drink. Am nowhere near a post office and don't drive a mondeo

Now it just makes me smile. Ladderwork keeps me fit, maintenance is virtually nil, and moreover I am happy with the way my business is progressing, so if anyone looks down on me, it doesn't bother me.
Don't worry, you will eventually want to improve your station in life and make your business a professional trade and you will soon realise you can only do that with WFP!

Good post.

Reminds me of the Henery Ford story.

A man goes for an interview and the boss asks him "What do we make here?"
"cars" came the reply

"Wrong, we make money and dont forget it"
