Appear to be very few trad cleaners on this site
« on: February 27, 2012, 01:40:18 pm »
As above. Certainly round here most are still trad, is it the same everywhere?
I know with wfp there is more kit involved and the potential for more problems needing advice ergo more wfp posts. Or is it the constant slagging off that puts people off of coming on here? It seems to have got a lot worse lately, not just wfp/trad but any subject that gets posted gets a fair amount of flak.

Just about all of us will use trad; I use trad still fairly frequently; on inside cleans, shops where it's less kerfuffle than getting a hose out when pedestrians are walking about.

Trad topics are still popular when the idiots don't start being clever and saying 'get a pole'.

There's probably quite a few window cleaners about who went straight into WFP and struggle to use a squeegy, which is fine, until they have to use one because they've no other option.

There'll be plenty of 'new' trad cleaners if the water companies get their way!!  Veteran WFP cleaners suddenly having to use a squeegee - then you die hard trad blokes will have the last laugh!!

Tip to all WFP only in the drought areas: START PRACTISING NOW ;D

Although I've gleaned a lot of useful information and hints etc on here and regularly read posts, I always think that there's a definate them (WFP) and us (Trad) mentality. I'm trad and age will no doubt see me continuing that way as any large outlay wouldn't be worth it as I may retire soon.
It seems that because WFP is more technical with more problems and breakdowns some seem to believe that they are in some way superior handling expensive equipment rather that simple water, squeegee and blades.
Just my opinion.

I started and went straight WF but feel it does not harm to know both. Was not up to scratch on my trad but have been learning myself for the last couple of months here and there and feel a bit more confident now but still not fully confident with my trad work. Feel it is to my own advantage to be spot on with both bin asked to do a few internals recently and had to put them off for a while so gonna practise my arse off for the next few months so I never have the same problem again. Also if I had a problem with my system I could could change over to trad instead of loosing a days work.

There will be plenty of wfp systems and vans on the market.I personally know of three blokes who only clean wfp who wouldn't have a clue how to run a round using traditional methods. They would see it as hard work and would sell up straight away,so anyone with an ounce of sense will learn the differant methods involved with wc as you never know you may need to do more than splash a bit of water at some windows one day..... ;D ;D ;D

Most trad cleaners will spend their spare time down the pub drinking their money, or down the post office drawing their benefits, or repairing their knackered old mondeo.

Ooohhhh, that'll get the cat amongst the pigeons!!  :'(

I dont look down on trad, im a strong convert to wfp, but its a skill to be able to do both, well (even if i say so myself!!)

Definite health risks traiditional, but so is there with wfp with unsafe vehicles, the way we drive our vans/cars, the way we live our lives.........  Any comments i make on here are either in jest, or in an honest attempt to help someone else...

I am a dyed in the wool tradder. It used to grate with me how some feel they have to put down those of us who run our businesses using old school techniques.

Now it just makes me smile. Ladderwork keeps me fit, maintenance is virtually nil, and moreover I am happy with the way my business is progressing, so if anyone looks down on me, it doesn't bother me.  :P

The highest I go with my shops is 10ft so it's a waste of time switching to WFP.  However If I had domestic and high business stuff I would have made the investment and changed over.

Horses for courses IMO.
