Help for Catherine 10
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:31:11 pm »
If may be so bold as to offer my input with Catherine in mind: I think tele sales is not marketing in any shape and form. That will explain why you are getting frustrated.
Marketing is the the plan one put in place  from the first conception of a good idea and the path you want it to go.
Try to involve your market at all times. They can guide you indirectly to the gold pot of success.
AS I see it, this soft ware still like a beta version and needs a lot of finishing work to make it ready for sending it to market.
Give your market some credit they know what they need. This window cleaning market is not ready for for cloud technology yet there is still too many questions not answered. It has great potential for the writer as he can make a monthly income as he will control the data.Which would not be in the interest of the user and  give the writer to much control.
I also think your price is that of a product the has proved its self in the market and not a beta looking one.Your first edition  should be no more than £150 P.A. Then add value with upgrades this is down by communicating with your clients and listening to there needs and developing a answer to those needs.  Always look towards your markets need and wants. In crease the value in this way and the price will be able to go up. E.G Bill Gates is still selling the same windows after 16 years.
Catherine it would be wise to forget about  telesales ideas  for this project as it brings along a lot of frustration. It is a to "demand and expect " environment and will not help you bring this product to a needy market.
I am not trying to teach you but with good intentions to help you succeed in your goal. ;)

With all respect due you. I find your tele sales back ground confusing your focus to marketing your app.

Thats ok Wiz, I run a telemarketing business in this industry, I dont know if you know of my website, but it would be a little rude to advertise on here seeing as I dont pay for that.  The business is going well.  The software issues go back to around 4 years ago when I first joined this site.  So my business is not connected with software - I was doing some work for a friend?  Does that clear it up?  Im no marketing expert but I do an ok job in what I do, I think......

kybl do you use google or yahoo and you can log in anywhere?  Its that really, just log in wherever you are.  I use google to share data with, because I cant be shunting backwards and forwards 20 000 records everyday.  All it is is your information is backed up on a server.

what the hells cloud technology   it must be good to excite everyone so much ????

The basic answer is that cloud technology is where the software is on the internet rather than on your hard drive.
Pros and cons:

PROS:  The software can be used on any computer regardless of operating system.  Your data is available from anywhere and there is no risk of losing it - though data on a hard drive should always be backed up anyway.  There may not be an initial outlay for the software - though there could be.  There would probably be no need to pay for software upgrades as new operating systems come along and old ones pass into disuse.

CONS:  To make money the software author would charge a rental fee to access the software.  Your access to your data could potentially depend on making these payments too.  The author may choose to increase the rental price.  The author may feel that they need not upgrade/update the software.  There may possibly be no data export facility which would allow you to change to another piece of software.  If the author goes broke you may lose all your data (unless you have a facility to download to your hard drive - hopefully as a .csv file).  The author can determine what format the data is kept in and could potentially choose to use a proprietary format to make migration very difficult.

The best workaround IMO (if you don't want to be cloud based) is to ensure that up to date data is kept on your hard drive and that you have a bit of your own web space to keep backups (this guards against losing data in the event of a fire).  Free (usually ad sponsored) web storage space is available if funds are tight.

I don't have great knowledge of such things and have tried to present a fair summary.  Please add/remove/correct stuff as applicable.

Cathrine 10 I wrote in response to your software you said you were trying to promote and that you get frustrated. This was blocked and i then posted this thread.I think you conveniently do not understand what I am saying due to you been under the weather the night before. I can see why the chaps are fed up with you and your confusing ways of doing things. If its this industry you are selling for you are messing up all your chances of more business from this side.
