Sorry, I should have put this in diff section but don't know how to move it now.
I'm up in Newcastle with the poorly wife who has an appointment with a prof somebody on monday. We thought we'd make a weekend of it and do some shopping sunday, stay over a couple of nights etc as its 200 miles from home. We go into maccydees tonight and after ordering ( I'm the only one at the counter) I notice an open wallet on the counter in front of me. I could see all the 20s and 10s, must have been £300-400 at a guess. I confess that for a split second I thought how much I could do with some cash like that, but no, the conscience kicked in and i thought how gutted the owner would feel when he realised he'd lost his wallet. I picked it up and checked a card (both debit and credit cards etc in) for a name, found one and started asking around for calum Donahue. A voice says 'over ere, this is im' so over I go. Anyways, I hand him his wallet and said you left it in the counter etc and what does he do?! He said absolutely nothing to me at all, just turned to his mate and said' I'm so 'f'in stupid' counts his money to see if it's all there and started talking to his mates with his back to me. I couldn't believe it, I was actually gobsmacked as he didn't say anything or look at me. So I went and got my order, sat down etc and spent the next few mins listening to his 'f'in etc while parents with kids looked on disapprovingly but wouldn't say anything as there were 4 of them ( age bout 20). They finished, got up and went. And I was left thinking 'what a Pratt' i should of kept it (again only for a split second...honest guvner). It was weird, wanting to do a good turn or whatever you'd call it, turned into a I wish I hadnt bothered, he deserved to have lost it. Does honesty pay, I'm not so sure anymore!
