Hi concept,
you have to buy a barbed insert and o ring clamp to ensure a secure fit.
...we have had 3 barbed inserts snap, leaving a part in the tap
An alternative to the barbed insert is a tube strengthener that fits inside the end of the hose to prevent the hose coming out of a push-fit connector.
After having a lot of feedback on our hose, and reading about the Gardiner hose with interest, it seems personal preference and expectation of how people want the hose to behave varies greatly.
Gardiners have a range of hoses and I seem to remember reading that they worked to develop the latest hose in response to feedback/demand.
Our priority is to have a low-stretch, durable hose, as this is important for the operation of the Aqua-dapter, but Using PU hose does have some other benefits over PVC though as it is more consistent in hot or cold weather/water.
The vast majority of feedback we get about our hose is positive (published on our blog), but there are also some who
really dislike it!
So far we have had yellow, translucent red and opaque orange. We have been trying to improve with each one, but the comments we hear indicate that we will never be able to please everyone with one type of hose as people value different properties of each, and manage their hose differently. For example, some like it to coil itself up at the end of the job, others find this too annoying as it means the hose is more likely to tangle.
