with the greatest respect to all alternetive  hot water systems,  i have a heat wave with a built in frost stat  ,i know they are alot more expensive than cheaper versions (lp5 heaters)  but the heat wave is alot less hassle, plumbed in to your fuel tank (no dangerous gas bottles) ext exhaust system comes from underneath the van (small tube) .all i do is take poles out then put frost stat on at night (no heaters ,boarding,insulation etc etc. JOB DONE .Some people just dont like the heatwave the only reason i can think of is that they wont pay the money £2300 it costs .money well spent in my opinon ,i have had mine 3 year now paid for itself over and over.

You can use any building insulation - I use Celotex 50mm only on my trailer system and and polystyrene and loft insulation on my van system behind plywood.

Do you have it serviced each year? How much does this cost and it is easy to find somewhere local to have it done?

dd ,you can look after it your self very basic ,i have 2 cleaning supplies near me fortunatley one of those are the people that invented the heat wave so there is nothing they dont know about it .very helpful even over the phone.

i would like to get a hot system only thing that worries me is i do a lot of victorian houses with single glazed very old glass ,i am concerned about breaking these windows

Not quite sure how a hot system pays for itself over and over again 

I have a fogwash - haven't needed to use it much this year. It hasn't earned me any money at all. It might allow me to work in colder temperatures for the couple of really bad weeks we sometimes get. Won't help me to drive on the ice unfortunately or through a foot of snow. I see it as a luxury - not a necessity.

Defo not a neccesity ,but helps me cut my gutter cleans which i get alot of and con roofs by at least 3rd of the time

If you run your system on red diesel any warranty will be null and void

Because the red diesel can come out of any OLD tank and have some 'foreign bodies' in it
