I think I am pretty much there now on how I wish to take the business forward.

I was going down the route of franchising, but it looks like a whole mine-field, and for now even though ultimatley i would like to expand using this method, i think the business still has a long way to go yet before I can warrent doing that.

Coming back down to earth now, I am rapidly growing the business now where I reckon if I keep the momentum up I will be hitting the magic six figure turnover by the end of 2012 Middle of 2013.

Why Six Figures?

Well, in order for me to employ someone to do the window cleaning, I have worked out that each van needs to be bringing in a turnover of £100,000 per year, or £420 per day.

I would look to pay someone 30k a year + annual profit share bonus to do the work, leaving around £70k profit for me/the business.

The idea is to keep growing the vans on this principle. I know that i can clear £500 per day if i schedual the jobs correctly, and there should be no reason, with the propper training why an emplyed window cleaner can do the same.

I would look to nuture the window cleaner, and in 6 years expect him to go upto rounds manager, and be responsible for 5 vans.

Once I have a few rounds managers, and a fleet of vans, i woudl ultimately look to start up a franchise model, where it would attract a much higher price.

Any thoughts?

(dont shoot me down tho) ;)

Do you need Tosh's window cleaner mate?  He can't read or write, so that should suit you, sir.

Why dont you want to be shot down....??????

Splurting figures like that on an open forum is going to get the exact reactions that you dont seem to want to hear...

Who in their right mind would go and earn a business 3 x their annual salary without thinking (as  Gav said)...about going it alone?
And then who in  their right mind honestly believes that a WC can earn £500 per day each and every working day?
Sorry mate but you are living in a dream world...
I feel sorry for the poor sods who may buy into your franchise scheme (if it ever gets up and running)....promises of ridiculous earnings such as what you have thrown about on here are just nonsense.
I wonder how many newbies who look in at this sort of stuff feel inspired and motivated by these claims.....if they do then they will soon come down to earth with an almighty bang...... ::)

Stockie....It is good to have a plan for the future and you have to start somehere with employing.
Yes YOU could pull in £500 a day, but probably an employee wouldn't, with or without the right motivation or not.
If you are running a van and 1 employee at £100k p/a turnover, paying £30k p/a wages, you won't come away with £70k p/a profit, so you need to re jig your figures there. (don't confuse turnover and profit :))
There is no reason why someone shouldn't work well for you on that sort of salary.....you may just find someone that wants to earn well without the hassle of having their own business.
If this works out well for you over the next 10 years, why bother going to the franchise route? You'll have a general manager in place by then and you can just sit back and watch it all work out :)
Good luck :)

Thereis no expenses in these figures
100 t/o 30k to employee 70k less what it has cost you to turnover the 100k

I had a not particularly articulate sales manager once and he used to say "Aim for the moon and you will miss it but you'll get to one hell of a height!"

I used to laugh knowingly but he was the guy with the big Merc, big house and the trappings of a comfortable income while I tooled up to sales meetings in a 10 year old Volvo!

 ;D

You go for it Stockclean - just get your sums right - I reckon if yer man does 50K, you pay him 30K and after costs you make 10K out of him then everyone will be happy. Then repeat 5 times and if you haven't sacrificed your real life (Spiritual, health,  family, contentment) in the process you'll be a happy man.
It's a game of three halves!

It looks good on paper but I wonder about the reality.  Quite a few people have tried this approach but most get bogged down in trivial problems.

Thanks to Helen. Ori, Gold and vince.

for your valuable input, and to the rest of you, no need to feel jealous, or worry you just carry on as you are, and leave me to concentrate on my goals.

Of course i need to tweek the idea, and the plan and make it workable, but its a goer and isnt unrealistic, arrogant? yes i agree. if you dont like it, tough, thats what free enterprise is all about.

Each van has 2 blokes in it working 11 hours earning 500 a day, don't think that's per man.

Yes, every job has been timed, start at 8 finish at 5, average clean price per house between 20-30 pounds, easy target to reach.  About 20 jobs per day.
