its fluctuating a bit, i need to get some months up as well, most of my customers are bi- monthly, so far this month I havent done an awful lot, i am canvassing currently to bump this month up to 2k. Next month i have 5.5k currently to get through, december is looking at around 1.8k, so i need to get the alternate months up. By april may next year i want evey month to be at least 5k on average before i look at stage two.

All I would say is walk before you run then re evaluate it. It always sound good on paper but to pit it into practice is another thing

There is a company near me who have 3 vans doing 500. a day with 2 blokes in each. start at 6 and work till the 500 target is hit. lots of comercial is involved too though.

there u go

Each van has 2 blokes in it working 11 hours earning 500 a day, don't think that's per man.

If you looked at my first post, its per VAN not man

I did look at your first post, but I'm regarding the post where you say there you go, the person who quoted 3 vans doing £500 a day has 2 men in it. So you can't compare that post to yours as your claiming it per man, I wish you luck in the winter working till 5 in the dark, should look good, there's a lot of people who claim things on here and get slated for it but I know there achievable but if I'm totally honest yours isn't,

pay a guy 30k to earn you 100k
on his own , is this a joke ????
iv worked  for and on behalf
of some of the biggest window cleaning
concerns nationwide , iv never earned anybody
3x my income  ??? ??? ???
and you seriously think you will fill this position
keep me informed to as n when you do m8
because once said employee realises he's earning you
triple he will be gone , poaching most of your
custy's with him , as he cud afford to be 3x as cheap
n still earn 30k  ;) ;) ;) ;)
Gav, not every person can or wants to run a business, so 30k a year for a job that is pretty much unskilled is a very good wage, my wife studied for 5 years at uni and gets less than that at the mo. Think your getting confused with a business owners mind set and that of an employee.
or a little of both.

to the person that tarted the post:

I would look to pay someone 30k a year + annual profit share bonus to do the work, leaving around £70k profit for me/the business.
look at your income  you will find you earn nowhere near 70k profit if you have a 100k turn over you forgot tax, ni, insurances, fuel, veichle costs, equipment and a whole host of other things, this goes to Gav as-well no window cleaner earns 3 x the workers wage in their pocket, if only that was true.

Also expanding to 100k turn over come with it's own problems, more so if you do this quickly (first cleans are a cow to mess up this plan and that's just to start.

If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

Quickly scanned posts initially was going to respond same as Helen  ;D

But why post this now as you are looking end 2012-13  ??? Good to have plan but .... why share this...
- at present miles away from 100k, as the best month you have shown is <6k

That said wish you all the best building round  ;D re post summer 2012 and show ur progress - would be interesting. I do agree there are employees that would be more than happy with 30k - some guys are just not interested being their own boss
usually over 40's (..... which are far easier to manage than the spotty little t****!) ;D ;D

Go for it Marc.  If that's what does it for you then good on you.
My own goal is a lot simpler (as a sole trader).  I have just started my accounting year (1/10)and I have a turnover target that I wish to reach by 30/9/2012.  If (when !!!) I reach it, that will represent something like a 23% increase on the year just gone.
I don't have a plan beyond 30/9/2012 but it would probably involve a similar percentage increase on turnover.  I would rather wait to see how my body withstands this coming year before making plans beyond that.

Thanks Paul, always good to hear from you mate, been a while. I am pushing forward relentlesly, and I will achive what I set out to do, I hope you keep pushing forward too.

Mike, I guess i wanted to share this because, 1) well its a forum and to share things on a forum in itself consitutes a reason for joining a forum 2) There are a lot of doom and gloomers out there, and I wanted to balance it out with a positive thread about moving business forward even in tough times.

I will re-post summer 2012- and show you my progress. oh and this evening i just pikced up another £1200 per anum of work from canvassing, making the total for this month so far around 5k a year added to my turnover.

The work is out there guys, its out there.

my mate  employed some one to do a round for him the round was worth 3.5 k a month and he was paying the lad 1200 a month,  for this he wanted the lad to clean and collect and all the lad did was collect enough to pay his wages so mymate didnt make any money,  in the end  the lad left and took the round with him as custy wanted to be with him, and there was nothing my mate could do, as custy said you aint our window cleaner the other lad is
that sucks!!

It's very important to set yourself targets and goals,
& there's nothing wrong in setting them high,

having said that i think you have not really based your targets on reality and experience they are more like
'wishes' and this is quite apparent as the first post clearly indicates that you do £500 a day on your own
the new w/c would do £420 a day =  100k   less 30k wages well if its 2 man van thats 60k wages  less
expenses etc....

i think 30k is a good wage for the employee but all other factors need to be looked at inc the effect VAT will have
on you.

sit down look at whats been achieved in the last year and set a target for get year - i reckon to have done well
if i have doubled customers/turnover/profit

Just to add your aims are good ( if needing a little work ) but are too long term - set short term targets

Darran
Never argue with an idiot, they will only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience
