Ben/Matt/Jay, you are correct, most custards don't know what T/M's are, I'll leave my steampro 2000 in me van, run an extra hose and like magic I have a truckmount!
You should be selling the benifits of having carpets & upholstery cleaned and not the benefits of using a t/m, if that makes sence.. i.e. having your carpets cleaned will prolong the life of your valuable furnishings leaving your carpets clean, bright and fresher will also help promote a healthy environment for you and your family.. or something like that instead of.. When I clean your carpets I'll use my truck mount sebo duo and microsplitters... what does that mean to anyone other than a carpet cleaner!!!!!!!
These methods of marketing are common place and typically come from the fasttack boys as part of there marketing arsenal. For them to say only use T/M maybe unfair, so what, you can't do anything about it other than offer a defence, low noise, can reach anywhere as its portable and my new machine is a protable t/m!!
Yes, you may be stretching the truth, but so are the T/M boys. Use fast track tactics to get around it, offer an iron clad money back guarantee, if your not totally satisfied with my work I'll re-clean the area for free, if your still not happy, I'll refund your money.
Why not come up with your own consumer guide!! modify it to your needs, then give it to your customer. I am sure they are available out there somewhere for you to get some ideas from.
Of course this view will change when I get my first T/M
