Dilutions for inline sprayer?
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:32:26 pm »
I just purchased a fixed (non adjustable) inline sprayer, can anyone assist me with working out how to get the dilutions right? the bottle is 5 quarts (4.74 ltrs)

Products i normally use are :

Powerburst
Split X
Amtech fineline MS
Prespray gold
Multi pro

Any input would be gratefully received!

Are there any indications of the ratio for your in-line sprayer?

8X what you would mix up for RTU.

I have mine set on 4. With SPM and Powerburst I mix 250 grams with 5 litres of hot water....

So therefore 500 grams of PB to 5 litres of hot water....

I think PSG is 1/32, so you'll need to dilute it accordingly...

RTU = READY TO USE.

A hydroforce draws chemical and dilutes it at 8-1, so mix your concentrate 8 times stronger than you would in a pump up i.e. RTU.

Er.. ok so lets say i normally mix 80ml of split X to 1 litre of water and stick that in my pump up spray...

8:1

So for an inline sprayer I would have to go 1 litre f water to 1 litre of MS? is that right? if its 8 x stronger?

If you are using 80 ml of split x to 1 litre of water, you need to mix 1 lt of water with 8 x 80 ml = 640ml
So whatever your using, make it 8 times stronger for your hydroforce.

Takes a little while to get your head round it but it's easy really ;)

What I do is carry 4 hydroforce containers on the van for each of my most used pre-sprays.  I have written on the side of them in permanent marker how much to put into the container.  The dribbles down the outside of the container remove the marker pen, never got round to doing it but I might try some floor sealer over the top of the writing to see if it stops it running ???

Right so i wasnt far out then....

Lets say i usually mix 8:1 in my pump up

Thats 80ml to 1 lt of water

So... i multiply 80ml x 9 = 720 ml to every litre of water

I think thats right....

Whoa hang on!!!!!!!!!

To make pre-spray at 1:8 you would need to add 125ml of concentrate to one litre of water.  Maybe this is where you've been going wrong Russ!!!!

By the way you might as well just add the concentrate NEAT into your hydroforce sprayer.  I hope that stuff is cheap??!  You can buy HD from solutions in 20L containers and it lasts months applied at 1:24

Yer.. sorry its late.. and i have cocked up...

Jim run me through a scenario where i would usually mix up 8:1 in a pump so i can work out what it would be in the inline sprayer..

For instance Split X quotes :

"Dilutes between 25 and 84:1 for maintenance cleaning, between 10 and 25:1 for restoration cleaning. Also excellent for bonnet cleaning and as a prespray when dry carpet cleaning"

Please give me an example buddy

Cheers

Right then!

Presuming your container size is 4.75L and the sprayer dilutes at 1:9

Pick an easy number divisible by 9 (the ratio of the sprayer).  Let's go for 27.

3 x 9 = 27

Therefore if you mix up your stock solution in the sprayer container at 1:3 it will come out at 1:27 when sprayed.

Still with me? :D

Now to get the stock solution diluted correctly.....

If you're diluting at 1:3 there will be four "parts" in your mix - one part concentrate and three parts water.

4.75 / 4 = 1.2 (near enough)

So that means your mix requires 1.2L of concentrate, in order to produce a pre-spray diluted at 1:27

Eureka moment? :-\

It gets more confusing the more you try to explain it, but it really is simple once the penny drops!

Thanks Jim..

So as an example... i wanted to take a product like"multi pro"  which is recommended to be diluted to 8:1

I would divide 8 into 1000 (ml) = 125

The multiply 125 x 9 (the dilution of the sprayer) = 1125

That gives me 1125 ml of concentrate to 1000 ml of water...?

Almost 1:1 in the jug ?
