Right then!
Presuming your container size is 4.75L and the sprayer dilutes at 1:9
Pick an easy number divisible by 9 (the ratio of the sprayer). Let's go for 27.
3 x 9 = 27
Therefore if you mix up your stock solution in the sprayer container at 1:3 it will come out at 1:27 when sprayed.
Still with me?

Now to get the stock solution diluted correctly.....
If you're diluting at 1:3 there will be four "parts" in your mix - one part concentrate and three parts water.
4.75 / 4 = 1.2 (near enough)
So that means your mix requires 1.2L of concentrate, in order to produce a pre-spray diluted at 1:27
Eureka moment?

It gets more confusing the more you try to explain it, but it really is simple once the penny drops!
