Another bad winter
« on: September 21, 2011, 04:08:31 pm »
Are you ready for another tough winter? it looks as if we could get one.

I know they always spout doom and gloom but I am not taking any chances this year. gonna be ready just in case.

Me too; and I've got ladders if need be; I'll just cherry pick my accounts suitable for ladders.

And keep an eye out on your elderly customers; with rising heating costs, I bet some of them cut back on keeping warm.

This is the Met Office forecast for the 6th to the 20th October

Quote
Temperatures are expected to fall back to nearer normal for the time of year across much of the UK by day, dropping below normal at night, especially across the Midlands and southeast, leading to an increased incidence of overnight frosts. The cooler conditions at night will be mitigated by day in some parts by sunnier than normal weather, with both the far south and far north of the country favoured to see above normal amounts of sunshine, with nearer normal sunshine hours elsewhere. Rainfall amounts are correspondingly likely to be a little below average in most areas, especially in the west.

Not saying the Met Office is right but pointless worrying about it.

Not a great deal you can do about it anyway, its the weather.

There's not much point if the road is covered in snow, where they gonna go.  We don't seem to get a lot of snow down here in Sussex by the sea. ;D ;D ;D

The cold never stopped me working for the whole day (early maybe)
But if snow falls and the roads are not cleared- thats what stopped me working last two years for a week or so during the worst.

Is this the same website that promised a summer with 'Shades of 76...?'

The Met Office no longer do long term forecasts based purely on their wretched record for getting them right.

We can see what the weather is going to be like for the next 7 or 10 days. Anything else is pure guesswork.

Despite record snow falls last December it was the driest December for a number of years.

The difference is that we probably had only a handful of wet days, the difference is that when it fell it lodged on the ground for weeks!
