I have been thinking for a while about just telling the customers I won't come in January and take a month off. Most of them wouldn't care less in fact they would probably like it.
Its not specifically about the weather but that is one consideration. A small price increase in the new year is coming anyway so if I made it a bit bigger it would pay for my month off the following January.

I don't find it a particularly productive time of year anyway so why not just swing the lead for a while?

daft idea vince!last year the heavy snow fell a few weeks before xmas!i had a good month in jan this year after a pretty crap december.

IMO the best bet is to clean when you can and enjoy the time off when its really bad.be prepared and heat the van etc.

i dont go with the idea that customers dont want you round in jan either!new year!clean windows!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

Its not all about the snow, I wasn't too bothered by it last year although we didn't get anything like as much as up north. More to do with just an excuse to have some time off when it doesn't make much difference.

And I still believe the majority of the customers would be glad to have a month off paying as well. As long as you tell them in advance

I bet all this talk off a cold winter comes to nothing. No way can they tell what its going to happen that far in advance. Its like predicting QPR Will win the champions league in 2 years time. ; ;)

Absolutely no point in worrying about it. By now everyone should hopefully have some winter dosh in the bank account and just work as often as poss.
Despite the weather last year we only lost 6 whole days work and as Dazmond said January was fine. I think August is the worst month as they all go on holiday.
Anyway, lots of gutter cleans to do before we have to worry about nasty weather - hopefully  ;D
