Thinking of using my reels from inside the van rather than lugging in and out all day.

Just one question; what do you all do about running the hose sideways out of the van?  Do you just pull round the corner and risk the van paintwork; do you pull away from the van then just pull the slack sideways or is there another way I've missed?  How do you cope when you simply have to park nose towards the customer's house?

Any and all advice willingly received.

If you only have rear doors just reverse in the best way that suits you for the job you will get use to it very quickly knowing where to park on which jobs

I've got a van with side doors, Fiat Scudo brilliant piece OF KIT. If you wanted to pull your hose from the rear of the van then I am sure that you could get a metal frame made up to support the hose reel.  Get it made of stainless steel & bolt it to the floor of the van. There's no need to drive nose in just reverse.

I have a fixed reel (2 bolts through the floor), its about parking the right way which takes some getting used to.

As said above you can use side doors and go the other way

I got a fairlead from Gardiners,.. just cut a hole in the back door & fitted it. I run the hose our through the fairlead & have a good 180degrees of free movement from it. Easy peasy.

I have made a wooden turntable which my reel is bolted to,

then i simply spin it in the direction of the work being done, left or right.

It stops the hose catching itself and trapping. whilst unwinding

It has made my work so much easier though,.. and it means the van can be locked when I'm working too.

Not necessarily: worn paint will look awful; a properly fitted port won't.  I'm writing the van off completely, so a port is irrelevant.

Thats the ones. Redashe do them as well, but gardiners are cheaper.
