Hi everyone after a dubious task of delivering piles of leaflets i got my first job to do on saturday lounge bedroom and small landing all on one floor would like to do as quick as poss please coud anyone tell me the best order to do things in ...using truckmount also mrs is helping .

I would say to worry more about doing it well, than doing it quick. Remember that from the first job you do, you are building your reputation. Until you're flat out with jobs there's not much point in worrying how long a job will take.

start farthest away from the door and work out, that way you should not walk over anything you have cleaned.

Just be thorough, but not to the point of being anal, polite and never never never refuse a cup of tea.

Pre vac all then pre spray/spot all, get vac hoses out all then extract from furthest piont. By this time the coffe that should have been made will be just right temp to drink. And don't forget to leave some business cards.

I feel a bit ignorant at times refusing a tea/coffee but i dont drink it never have.

It gets a bit like father ted some days
"will you have a cup of tea"

Your web site i might say tells a different story, and i dont see any thing wrong with that by the way, none of us want to give the impression we are inexperienced, but what i was wondering is your business some part of a local franchise? the site gives me that feeling

I know this sounds like an odd question, but what are you using to prespray - a pump up, or a hydroforce?

geoff - robert we are not a franchise and we have done lots of carpets before but never been paid just for people we know and we have been on various training courses and regards to the website my wife designed it she will be pleased you think it looks proffessional  also ash we use a pump up sprayer but we are looking into getting the hydra sprayer....colin are you insinuating that its ok to lose your virginity to family members were you are from

Hi everyone,

Further to the points highlighted about our website and us coming across as being professional but being newbies - we have been doing family / friends carpets with a porty for a while since deciding on persuing this trade earlier in the year. We have attended a Prochem course, read lots, practiced on old bits of carpet we have collected etc in fact we are confident in what we are doing.

The point of the question was this is going to be our first 'proper' job so yep, despite the above its a bit nerve racking - not because we dont know what to do but as we are still a bit slow and just want to be efficient and professional without cutting corners or making a complete faff about the whole thing. Hence asking you guys for any helpful hints on how to get through our first job.

This business is really important to us which is why I spent a long time doing the website, leaflets and having a go with friends carpets as we are far from cowboys and dont want to ruin anyones belongings. We have told everyone that we have done quotes for and booked in that we have only just started up and everyone has been happy with this.

Craig told me not to take what some of you said so seriously - but I couldnt help it!

Why dont you clean your own or some of your own carpets first if its your first truckmount job maybe.

Its always a daunting doing your first paid job and you will prob fine like myself it took me 2 or 3 times longer to do my first job than it does now.
