If you don`t want to be embarassed by a 3 wheeler, go for the Reliant Kitten or the Kitten estate if you want to carry more water.

thats true. the isuzu looks light but still strong,  whereas  those Rangers are obviously heavy even before you put anything in them, which is probably why they are so bad on fuel . Even the later toyota hilux 2wd looks heavy these days ,i bet if you put a tonne in it, it would be very down at heel  

 i like the idea of a pickup for trad,after i saw a lightweight 2wd toyota hilux(early type)  being used for windows ,so easy to just lay ladders against the cab with a simple fixing to the rail . however now iv got lads work with me,a pickup is no good as the cab cannot carry 3 ,i think bench seats arent fitted to the later ones

Just a bit friendly advice guyz if you go to buy a new van make sure you get one with out the DPF which is the diesel particular filter

Couple of them local to me. One guy was refueling and left the motor running, the thing went up in a ball of fire!!
Going price is from €3500 upto 17000, can't afford 17000

jista all new diesel motors will be fitted with a DPF  you just need to give them a good run out every week i drive my vitara at 70-80 mph for 10 mile in 4th gear ,  have not had DPF clogged up since thats the best way and when i doing about 40mph locally i never put it in 5th gear , the hotter the exhaust gets the quicker the soot will burn off and not clog DPF

Hi m8 thanks for that bit info when i spent 36k on this van they were informed that i am a window cleaner i work around newcastle area and south shields which is not that far apart and they said to me this is the van for you brilliant urban user van (So i bought it) three months into its life the oil lvl was high this went on for three years, back and fourth to the garage for oil changes and still ongoing MB never quoted in there brochure like nissan do

The functionality of a DPF may not be suitable for all customers. If your journeys are predominantly urban or low speed, a model without a DPF may be a more suitable alternative.

I was informed by MBUSA that!!!

1. Do not do frequent stops!!
2. Do not idle van!!
3. Do more motorway miles!!


On the other hand MB do say ( How about this Mercedes-Benz Sprinter ECO-START : STOP, START, SPRINTER)

This vehicle is costing me more and more money for oil and filter changes these vans only need to be serviced every 25000 miles now i doing it every 5000

This vehicle would you say is not fit for my purpose.

£36,000 that must be some van mate , my DPF used to clog every 4-5 wks since i have done what i said in previous post i have had no probs , 

For the particle filter to be kept clean the exhaust must reach a very high temp then when its reached that high temp the van or car needs to be kept running for about another 10- 15 mins which means a drive of about 20-30 mins of normal driving , 

particle filter regen takes place  without the driver knowing , but if the car or van engine is switched off the regen process will have to start over again which means it will continue to clog without a good drive out each week

Ye thats what i thought that 36k was intended to last me the rest of my working life.

It sounds like to me you no what you are talking about with this DPF poope i wanted  a vehicle that could do what i wanted to do, not cost me time and money and now worry MB have been irresponsible not explaining this in there brochure like Nissan have they lied in saying this could do your job the urban user i don't want the flippin hassle knowing i can not do start and stop, do not idle, do more motorway miles, i am trying to earn a living and trying to run a business

You can not say to me if you went to buy a new vehicle for window cleaning  and spend 36k and they told you these  points i just posted you would say ok then i will buy it.

That would be b******s m8 no offence.
