Hi peeps.

I have been practicing cleaning on lower windows before I tackle tops so I have not yet purchased a ladder so I would like some opinions please.

Don't laugh if its a stupid suggestion... I am needing a compact ladder as I have no van so a 2m triple would suit my needs for getting it about but is it suitable for the job?

I have asked before about the min height needed and got one answer saying 3-3.5m.

those ladders are ace ! i used one for the first year of my biz and  i really rate them highly as they fit INSIDE  a hatchback car .

the most popular ladder i see used by many windies in my area , is the youngman 9 rung double domestic, its sold in WICKES and is 60 odd quid

 cheap ,light,very strong . Its now my main ladder for day- to- day ordinary houses


 a lot of the Trade ladders are very heavy,theyll hurt you once you get busy . just my opinion

I personally prefer a slighty heavier ladder as its less likely to move around in the wind, if you get one thats to light the first time you leave it upright and a gust of wind comes along it will be blown over into whatever it falls against (customers greenhouse, car etc) and its not just the ladders i like about the titan range from midland its the supagrip feet that are on them, you get a pretty good stable footing with them, I,ve got two of them and in my 24 years of window cleaning they are the best I've ever used and I got thru quite a few sets!

Take the fabric off and bungee the ladder with a 28 litre bucket on the ladder also bungeed. Maybe the other way round if the end of the ladders hit the concrete on a slight incline.

Wow, in that case i'd definately go for a triple as its going to be smaller, so easier to carry when folded down

i would of said dont buy a triple for window cleaning normal semis etc as it will slow you down ideally  you want a 3.5 double,but if you got a push bike then you will need a compact ladder until you can afford a car/pass you test

So from that. I have found a 2.2 titan ladder that extends to 5.1m.

Would this suffice? Or would I need something closer to 6/7m?

My small triple extends to 18ft but its rare I have it anywhere near fully extended so I would say that the double you mentioned would be fine for 1st floor work on the vast majority of houses

i would disagree. I have a 3.5 double which extends to about 6.5 metres.  Thats the shortest you'd want when doing some older style first floor windows.  In retrospect thought, i'd of got a 4 metre double, you can reach second floors that way.
I would say get as big as possible, you dont wanna be turning business down when your just starting.

p.s id deffo recommend titan.  very sturdy and they look professional rather than diy

I deffo do not plan to do 2nd floor on a ladder.

Where I live its 95% 2 storey houses anyway, luckily.

Also I can't hoof around a 4m double on a trailer on a push bike lol. 2-2.5m is largest I can go for.

I will just have to suffer with a triple for now and work hard to get transport than WFP.

Treble 2.5 would be ideal.I use a treble 2.0m which is great for most first floor windows.I do 90% of my houses with this ladder,where if i had the treble 2.5 it would be 100%.My advice go with the treble 2.5m.
