Derick.,
Imho   , I can see you have tried to show a vid that is slick and upbeat and to some extent it works, how ever I personaly find the music annoying, and the short clips continualy going back and forth a little to much to take in, as a cc i know what is gong on and the process you doing, to a prospective custy i feel a more informative and slower approach would be better.

who ever said dont knock before u try ,i never tried dog crap but i know i wouldnt like  haha

It's a bit chaotic, Derek and monotonous too. You keep showing the same shots over and over and you just lose interested. Shorten it down and give it a sense of purpose and you've cracked it.
You did ask :(

Derek, firstly I have no idea how to film and upload a vid  so this is not any form of professional critic but....
I stopped watching at 60 seconds because the constant flashing between scenes did my head in, and could possibly cause an epileptic fit for some people (who may be prone to it).
It was manic, have you been on the high suger drinks again ;)

Derek,

I did a video marketing course about three years ago with a guy who worked on post production on the"Blair Witch Project".

He said, no matter how long or short, a video has to have a story line featuring a hero (you) and a villain (the dirt). He also said you needed a "story board" with each scene planned in advance.

You did that on your previous ones (especially the drive cleaning ones, which I liked) but do not seem to have a plan for this one.

It's easier to produce something if you have a story line or script first. I hope you don't think I'm hijacking this but I stuck pretty tightly to a plan for this one...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2O21jeE3Iw  . If you don't it can "wander" a bit.

Hope that helps,

Garry

Hi Derek,
I applaud your efforts in what you have done, but it was like watching an episode of Deadliest Catch!(Fishing in the Bearing Sea in Alaska).
And I now fell a bit giddy, and sick and vertigo, and me 'ed is spinnin'
Apart from that, ITS GREAT!  ;)

Gary,

I lost interest in your video when the rotary scrubbing seemed to be having no effect at all, especially on the stain. I thought the carpet was the wrong colour to do a before and after and I don't think that having watched it anyone would be particularly impressed, but I could be wrong. ( I usually am ;D)

Derek,
As said by others, it has to tell a story. You can do in a number of short frames for each process, eventually leading up to the finished result.
By short frame I mean like on TV ads, where they show a clip of no longer than one or two seconds. This is frustrating to view but leaves the viewer wanting more, it has been proved that any longer than that and they have seen too much and rapidly lose interest. So you are right with the quick clips, they just need organising better.

Just see it in time then  ;D

Although I haven't really done any myself from a viewing point it is a bit too jumpy from scene to scene, and too long overall.
But apart from that good  ;D
Liked the design and the content, just too quick to see it!

Think Derek has found a niche, he's marketing to people with Attention Deficit Disorder.

All I can say is whenever I've shown videos to people, they give me very good reasons why one is better than another which seems to make sense. Then you release them and it's never the one they chose which gets the most response.

So my advice would be to do at least six videos, all different approaches and show a differnt one each time o your site or platform. After several hundred views and click throughs you will have your answer from the people who really matter. You then take your best video and new one and see if it does better or worse, rinse repeat.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I think the real danger with using video is the risk of losing the potential customers attention because we haven't given enough thought to what is important for the viewer, instead, we tell them what we think is important , a nice shiny machine, a before and after, a carpet being vacuumed, but what if none of these things speak to their real concerns? Is the company reliable? Will they try and double the price with extra services once they get into my property. Will I be safe with a strange man in my house? Will my carpet look as clean as the one in the video, or was that just a set up?
I think still pictures work far better because you are showing them something they can readily recognise as what they are looking for from a carpet cleaner.
