I've always carried ladders on a car but am getting a WFP shortly. I'll still need a ladder for some jobs but am concerned about getting the ladder on and off the van - Toyota Hiace or similar

Has anyone any experience of this and can can advise? Thanks in advance.

I have a transit normal roof so about same as hiace. Just stand on side loading door sill and tailgate sill to access ladder clamps if u go for hiace make sure its got twin rear doors cos if u go for the big tailgate version u gonna struggle

My van is similar to a Hiace, but with a tailgate door(which I prefer, to having 2 doors) and all I do is stand on the rear wheel to undo ladder clamp.

Do you just use one ladder clamp. Have only used bungees to-date

I only use one clamp unless I am going on a motorway and that is never.

Use roll bar on transit connect. Stand on back trye & open side door to undo clamps.

surely by now how would have earned the funds to upgrade your business to a van??

im not saying you have to have a brand new van with a top notch wfp system in it but in my view - in this day and age: all good businesses should use vans, sign writting, insurance ....

Single tailgate when up would make it impossible to get at ladders cos it adds about 5 foot onto roof length u need twin rear doors that open outwards as opposed to going up ..... Rollbar is a ladder roller which goes onto rear of roofrack and helps ladders onto main rack

ok then, take a look in screw fix cat for a roof rack and rool bars

I drive a hiace and i made a rack inside my van for my triple ladder to slide into. It's ace!

I recommend using Python cable locks to hold down your ladder,much faster than clamps and they thread through the hollow rungs which means you dont need to reach up  so high to put them on.    bought mine in Bn q    and they are thief proof (i hope !)
