Transferring web site to another design!?
« on: January 24, 2011, 11:38:23 am »
This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to simply transfer your present web site pages to a different type of diy template or design with another supplier. Or do you have to do it all manually in long hand again?

We use  the serif webplus program which has the ability to import a whole website, so that you can edit it and change things around and upload it elsewhere if you wish.

I would assume many other web authoring programs will do the same or if you have a website designer they will probably have the tools to do this.

Dave,

What do you mean by different supplier?

do you mean a different hosting company or something else?

Thanks for that Steve.
Gary, no I want to remain with the present Host, but would prefer a different layout to the Templates they provide.

Andy Vickery of easyraydesign did mine no drama no heartache - www.aa-clean.co.uk  he took it from a freebie microsoft office playschool type template design to a nice slick pro look VERY good value for money (old format can still be seen at www.carpets-cleaned-properly.co.uk)

Contact him on 07879010809  or andy@easyraydesign.co.uk. I am not affiliated to him in any way shape or form this is merely a recommedation - tell him your a carpet cleaner and you will might get a bit of discount?

Use the site below. it works this way, you put up your job, website design and guys from India and eastern Europe mainly will bid on that job. you then pick. you can judge on price or past performance. as everyone that uses the service leave feedback.

I been using this service for years and can say that you get top design for penny's. they can also do many other types of work. Link building, seo, etc.

You do have to be clear what your after and dont fear telling them when its not right most of these guys really want to do a great job and many problems come from poor instructions.

They can clone any site you like

Hope this helps

with respect your wrong. they do a great job. and its all about market forces. My point is that which I was trying to explain to derek that its the marketing part of design any great site has it built in, that's something that these guys don't know about.

These are people as well. the guy i uses was from the far east and work in a call centre as a system admin. he was highly educated and lost his job in 08 when the **** hit the fan. he ended up working in a flower shop to make money to keep his home.

How many people have paid top money for a site and got something that was average. As I said these guys can if you want clone anything for you.

Link exchange is unbelievable. hundreds of sites for just a few quid. and they can space them out so you don't get marked down by google. Do you have any local guy that will do that for you?  :)

These guys have University Degrees so they are far from monkeys as you say. they are just unfortunate to live in counties with poor opportunities for themselves.

Some that i have used live in places that have electricity outages on a daily basis, with dial up internet speeds. but this does not stop them.

Sorry if it sounds like i having a go, i not just want to explain that all is not what it looks like sometimes.

With The greatest Respect

If you use freelancer, odesk etc. I would give all Indian and Eastern European offerings a wide birth. They tend to be companies posing as individuals and your project is one of hundreds.

Outsourcing your tech. work is what I do but.... you really need to know some techy stuff yourself and you need to put a lot of effort in yourself at first which for one offs is not really worth it. UK/States people are more expensive but they tend to be more reliable and understand the concept of being honest.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I know what you mean Stuart I wrestled with this one myself. On investigation I realised the rates these guys were charging which seemed a pittance to me, turns out in their local economies is a kings ransom. I also know that by scaling my business with outsourcing abroad I've been able to pump far more money back into the local economy than I otherwise would.
