I might have got the wrong end of the stick but I understand your role would be to do the communications a get the commercial work in for the customer? What happens when you have clients with the same needs? how would you decide who to give the leads to?

Hi Hydro

Do you mean same postcodes, no would only base it on having delegated postcodes, could not sell services against eachother.  Yes commercial.

Yes that's what I meant. Say you were working for several customers in say... London and a big commercial job comes up - who are you going to contact first? Are you expecting an income even if you can't pass any work on? Are you doing the work of a company secretary? Can't get my head around what it is exactly you intend to offer and how.

Hi Hydro

No I wouldnt be taking any incoming calls, it would all be proactive appointments generated by myself and a small team, unless of course somebody rang in.  No, wouldnt take on anybody in the same area.

Ok say you take on someone from St Ives in Cornwall - how will he ever get commercial work if he hasn't got the right credentials? You've got someone like Dave Morris just down the road who will hoover up all the work with his experience and qualifications. You could have a load of newbies on your books desperate for work who won't get any.

That would be down to my skills in sales, customer service, how I approach people, follow up customer service, just because somebody might be big, dosent mean they will get the job.  Its about representation of a client you are working for.  How you work on the premises, nature, friendliness etc.  If your big dosent necessarily mean your better.

Thats fine Blue

But sometimes chain work can be so time consuming you would be better going for stuff thats a little easier to navigate, get to speak to the decision maker without going through the rigmarol, because time spent doing that is time lost doing what you can do.  Not to say its a no no though.  Crikey if I could count the number of times that I done head office for a penny think I would be a rather rich lady.  Countless and countless of times over 20 years.

Hi Dan

I was thinking of something similar, with regards to putting leads out.  This is something a little different, because I have been working for a few guys - its just changed my perception of how to do things.  It would be proactive rather than reactive.

hi Kate
i think price would have to be on leads generated or on ongoing commission of any job generated, you know yourself some areas are very difficult to generate any leads but if you got ongoing commision from jobs it could still be worth your while, as for hourly rate this would depend on amount of work you could bring in and i think companies would soon drop you once leads dried up a bit.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Yes Trevor, I must admit some areas of the country seem to be slightly harder to crack than others.
