is that what you do m8?
NOT scrap metal. Although iron & steel is paying £130 per tonne (in London) and up to £3500 per tonne for non- ferrous, there is WAY too much competition and the price fluctuates...
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

Good topic.My favourite subject.

Interesting that so few have ideas. The clamping was good and i wouldn't have thought of that in a million years, he must have stumbled onto it.

If you go looking for viable businesses there aren't that many. Many models that did work don't now.

I sold firewood last year, My mates a tree surgeon/lumber jack. He has got quite a big set up supplying logs and sticks in big quantities (cannot remember the term used for it, brain freeze) and then whoever buys them sells them on to garages etc.
He let me have them at bulk prices without having to buy in bulk, It went ok, But I was advertising for free in the classifieds and they stopped me as it was a business, I would now have to shift about 30 log nets a week just to pay for advertising so have not bothered this year.

I know people that do. I pick it up if i find it, store it and run it in come December when the price is at it's highest. I wouldn't recommend doing it full time though as i see so many scrappers on the road - even the binmen do that now.

I am still building my rounds up.
To keep the money coming in, and have a bit of variety, I do a lot of plumbing and property repairs for a local estate agent.
I now have to employ as both businesses are growing steadilly ( hate giving work away).

Well, as for doing the window cleaning myself, I am really fed up! And only done it for about 2,5 years.

But I decided for a couple of month ago that I will just focus on sales and administration.
And this was the right decision for me! :)

But there are many things you can make money on, some as:
- Sale / installments / service of AC
- Sale / installments of window blinds (and everything in that sector)
- Stocks (if you know what you are doing, but you need to have some cash, at least 100.000)

You know, just like in WC, think of what people need all the time, over and over again.
If I were not having the lifestyle that I have now, and the goals that I am going after(not like running a company).
I would without a doubt start a telecom company from scratch, that delivers very good solutions to SMB market.
That would be fun! But then you need to focus 150% on that! Well, now I am focusing 75% on window cleaning, and perhaps soon 50%.....

Well let’s just say it.... there are more important things than window cleaning :) ITS JUST WINDOWS :)

That's much better.

Singing at 200ph is cheating as it requires talent.

I've always been rubbish at buying and selling, so this caravan trading etc probably falls into the talent catergory too.

On reflection i do have a talent. Running a basic business well.My wife does too. For a lot of you what you don't realise is that your skills are transferable. If you can run one biz pretty well, you can run another.

I am a market trader and a window cleaner and i am outstanding at both. If you take wc i waste- or have wasted -loads of money- but that's beside the point. This forum, some ideas of my own,and ive opened up a gap that can't be bridged.

That's not to say that i like the work because i don't.It's too hard, unrelenting, and never goes away.I much preferred being a market trader.Where you just stand around gossiping and drinking tea.

I'm always on the look out for businesses.

I'm always on the look out for businesses.

I've identified a gap in the mortgage provision market. I was just trying to think of a company name and trying to get the finance in place. I'm looking for investors ?

I run an internet business as well, just flogging stuff. Its only small time but it has potential if I wanted to develop it, there is however always loads of competition.

My neice's boyfriend is a children's entertainer. Boy is that a good business. He has a well honed act but then he just does the same act over and over. He charges £100 for a one hour show and often does 3 on a Saturday and 3 on a Sunday.

After watching Dragons Den a couple of years ago I invested in the Gold plating set up that was shown.

Labam Rooms??? went on their with his Goldgenie and impressed the dragons and got backing. I liked the idea and saw a different market for it so bougt all of the equipment and started practising.

Got massively busy with the national works and it as sat on the back burner since then.

I like having it in the background and when the time is right the set up will come out and be pushed onto the relevant market.
