Something i posted on another forum

Hi All
I have noticed a few members feeling quite guilty, if the purchase from another supplier.
I don't know what's gone on over the years between different suppliers
And  don't want too.
But there is one thing I am sure about different products need to be mentioned on this forum from all suppliers (not the suppliers name).

surely that would give  a little knowledge of there competitors
(not saying they needs it). And give forum members a little bit of help choosing products.

I'm a fella who buys what he wants where he wants. I wont slag the supplier off where I didn't buy from, next week I might buy off him

There it is Paul

i think he's saying, mention products but don't mention suppliers, that way we get to know products and suppliers don't get promoted or slagged off.

or he could just be off his t1ts ;D

On a serious note, the supplier down in Cornwall has a small crowd of like minded men who participate in no strings fun together. One man has a euphemism he uses all the time... "Been in the big house again today"

I assume the forum you mention is owned by a particular supplier and therefore pushes their products.

If you want to know about a product from any supplier post here and I'm sure someone will oblige.

Cheers

For christ's sake can we all stop dancing around the issue please??!!!

Paul is referring to cleantalk, which is sponsored by Solution Cornwall, I think most of us know that.  And the rules on cleantalk are that you can't blatantly promote other suppliers products and equipment.  Obviously if a supplier sponsors a forum they have the right to stop people advertising their competition in their own back yard!

There's nothing wrong with "discussing" other products and machines, even the admins and moderators such as John and me still mention other products etc.  And contrary to popular belief and vicious rumours (mentioning no names, you know who you are ;) ) only a handful of people have ever been banned and that's because they broke rules and didn't seem to want to act any differently.

The sponsors of this forum don't seem all that interested in enforcing such a strict policy, although I have seen advertising attempts removed so the same thing is being done here.  I think the only difference is that the owner of this forum keeps his head down and is nowhere near as publicly available for snipers to take pot shots at him :)

And I don't think Paul was being "slaughtered" over it, just the rules had to be clarified... and more importantly justified and explained!!  You can't argue with the reasons for the rules.

Jim

The reason the mods/owners of this Forum don't enforce a strict policy is that no supplier is paying so it is a level playing field.

It makes no difference to me whether someone perfers Prochem, Chempec, etc as long as they are genuine.

As far as I am aware Cleantalk is the only forum owned by a supplier and as I have said many times they are perfectly entitled to promote their own products.

On here we will discuss any manufacturers products.

Cheers

I guess it's because Express are a supplier of most products so recommending Prochem is good for Express's business, Nick sells his own brand and therefore doesn't want it diluting with Prochem etc.

I too saw David's thread, I too feel as though I have sinned as I went somewhere else to get my snow tyres (by f'king late really!!) but the supplier I use hadn't got any so had to go elsewhere, well actually I didn't give a rats it depends on your relationship with your main supplier and if you feel tied to them.

Jim,

In all the years I have moderated on CIU I have never once been asked to promote a particular product and if I was told what to say I would resign immediately.

CIU is independent because it is!

Cheers
