I dont think Steve will be upset,

not really going to make a living from it, .. i simply noticed that a few people were a little concerned about doing it themselves, ... so , with that in mind,

Decided to offer to fit them, with a very , very small profit margin...

Who would do it for free ,

If you knew me, you would know that i will help anybody out in any way totally , without asking for payment...

But i cant fit them all for nothing.... if i could ...i would.

gazza I can tell you are genuine and I am glad you are offering to help others for a very small cost, but trust me if you aren't qualified to do it and something goes wrong they will blame you even though you tell them to switch it off etc, I have no problems with the guys trying different things and bending a few rules but the minute you do it for someone else you are asking for trouble. but well done on the trying to help others anyway we need a bit more of that ;)

(edit)just read your reply and if you are happy to do it fair enough good luck

Having a tank full of hot water is fine to get you out of a spot like were having at the moment but it's a very inflexible means of running something that could be so
much better.

The only thing worse than this would
Be aquarium heaters as they only go up to about 30 degrees.

which are rubbish, how can you compare 300 watts with 3000?

the only other thing i can think of which is worse than this ....is not working...

by the way , just had a text from my mate who said he tested it tonight and had to turn it off as its very hot water after 3 hours.... so will re-heat at 6am

as has been said all along ...its a cheap temporary .... but very very effective way of working in this wage crunching weather.

I totally understand where you are coming from Stu, and thank you,

Would be nice if we could all work through this early freeze, and i have seen how many of us are sat at home,

Its not profiteering, and thanks for making my point, and yours... which i totally understand,
but hey, guys if you want it fitted.. and you  know your house electric mains are ok...( god its only an element)

Then i wil fit it.... with comebacks or anything.

Just willing to help and only   cover the time it takes to do that, but no one needs to take up the offer, its only a thought..

but it works treat , looking forward to my hot water in the mornings all through the winter.

Gazza,
A couple of questions,

1, I will be very interested to hear how your days work goes today so will you post later?

2. Next time you fit one (assuming you do fit anymore) Please could you get a friend to video it and post it? It would be extremely helpful.

Probably being picky here, but are you qualified as a sparky?

If there were a fault where would you stand with regards insurance. I'd imagine if you fit them for financial gain and you're either not a sparky nor insured then you're probably breaking the law.

doesnt come under part p rules
not advertising as a electrican
not wired into the circuits

any problems would be between him and customer

Like I said, perhaps Im being picky.

Its generally thought that most on here like to think of themselves as being professional, which includes Public Liability insurance. Im sure Gazza has that for his window cleaning. I doubt he is insured to carry out any form of works which involves electrical activities better left to those qualified to do so.

Turned in on at 5.30am.... ... off at 9am...got 500 litres of hot water,

a little late now , but off to  work now,

tonight i will lag my tank.
 ;D
Oh , i had to defrost my garden hose last night , which goes to the van for the ro-unit....

so i have just unravelled it from the reel,...and put it in the van at the back of the tank.... next to the warm tank

so that should be ok for tonight now, hopefully.

As long as Gazza has proffesional indemnity for the advice and public liability for what he is doing for payment I can't see an issue.

I would recommend anyone who has it done checks these things and gets a receipt.
