« on: December 07, 2010, 10:09:44 pm »
Hi,

Well , after the interest in Steves original topic, .. we have fitted two tanks today, one an IBC and the other a 400 litre tank...with the 3kw electric boiler heater /element,

Tested and we have hot water in the tank at this moment, (will be turned off now until 5am)..

So if any of you guys would like this installing, and are not 100% happy doing it yourself,

get in touch and we will fit this up for you,...

includes,

Element

Asbestos washers

sealant

1.5... 3 core insulated cable

Extention lead ( 4 gang, 8 metres, thermo cut out , rated 3120)

Any tank.

£55?

So you would fit all that and pay for all the gear, .... including thermo extention reel and 3 core insulated cable ?... not to mention flanges ... oh and drill bits, ....and the main thing ...the element .?

I think he meant 55 as in temperature

Gazza, are you not profiteering from a very helpful post put on here by the original guy yesterday, in great detail with the sole purpose of helping us all.
I don't see that as wrong mate, honestly I don't but can't help feeling he may be a bit pi ssed off at this post.

I wouldn't do it anyway, not the helpful post I mean but I would not fit it for someone else and charge as you would be liable if anything went wrong, I might show how to do it as steve did but I certainly would not do the work and charge money. Even though though it all looks really simple and effective and he would be doing a favour to the people not happy with their own diy skills for a small charge. It is a recipe for disaster seeing it involves electricity and water

I dont think Steve will be upset,

not really going to make a living from it, .. i simply noticed that a few people were a little concerned about doing it themselves, ... so , with that in mind,

Decided to offer to fit them, with a very , very small profit margin...

Who would do it for free ,

If you knew me, you would know that i will help anybody out in any way totally , without asking for payment...

But i cant fit them all for nothing.... if i could ...i would.

Having a tank full of hot water is fine to get you out of a spot like were having at the moment but it's a very inflexible means of running something that could be so
much better.

The only thing worse than this would
Be aquarium heaters as they only go up to about 30 degrees.

Its not a recipe for disaster... i fit them as they are supposed to be fitted, with all the safety precautions in place,

from the element , there is the correct cable, , it plugs in to the correct thermo extention, with trip switch.

If someone is then going to plug it into the mains, ... then the plug socket that they plug in to , should be up to scratch,..... meaning its protected with a trip on the mains or the socket, which is the norm anyway,

a 2kw radiator plugs in to a normal socket, so this should be fine...

the point of power , after fitting is the purchasers responsibility,

all the protection , before it reaches the power scource will be in place.
