Call out charge around £60.00, and then £30-£40 per hour.

I had a plumber "mate" come and fix my boiler, it stopped working 20 mins after he left. he said it was obviosly not the part he replaced at fault so he would have to try something else, cheeky sod still charged me £20 for the part and £50 labour for a part it did not need.

I am now with british gas.  pay monthly, full annual service unlimited call out.

He said he was flat out. Imagine if it only took him that long on all of them, say he had at least 5 in a day, you can guarantee £90 per house before even starting!

£450 "possibly" a few minutes work in each house...and the rest!

The temperature controller in the hall was playing up and the man who had been doing our heating had retired to france so we ended up calling up someone local from the yellow pages.

First he would have to identify which controller it was so he said he would pop round on his way home. About 5 o'clock doorbell rings, he walks in looks at the controller and says "Oh yeah its the Honeywell"
and walks out again.

After the new one had been fitted we found he had charged us £70 callout for that visit.

I never get that either. They tell you what is the cause, bill you for it, expect payment and then when theyre proved wrong there's no refund.
