i love it when plumbers charge for parts and labour until they find the cause, surely it cant be that hit and miss?

ummm i think i will change the thermostat see if that works, then maybe a pipe, then maybe the boiler.  ::)

I had a plumber "mate" come and fix my boiler, it stopped working 20 mins after he left. he said it was obviosly not the part he replaced at fault so he would have to try something else, cheeky sod still charged me £20 for the part and £50 labour for a part it did not need.

I am now with british gas.  pay monthly, full annual service unlimited call out.

That is out of order!

I've got two years left on a five-year guarantee on my boiler; we've had problems once and they came out and fixed it no problem; so it's a good guarantee.

But I think I'll do the same as yourself with British Gas (or similar) after it runs out.

When I had problems with my phone line they told me that if the fault was not outside the house,  I would have to pay £116 per hour labour cost.

If you joined British gas service scheme it would of cost you £15 per month, and they turn up within 24 hrs regardless of time of year
