1st day off today (and maybe the rest of the week) since going full time in June .. getting well worked up fri / sat about loss of earnings as just bought a big round with newer van and wfp set up but looking long term a week out of the year so not to bad if I look at it that way.

Spending the day organising the recently aquired work and google earthing it so will save an hour a day over the next month by not driving all over the place to find the new houses.

The wedding fund is going to take a bashing at end of month when mortgauge due though  ::)

Fortunately I can trad a lot of stuff this week so even if wfp a no go still able to earn  ;D

Spent yesterday with double-sided tape and bubble wrapped the inside of the van, even the floor under the plastic trays that cover it.

Up until yesterday every thing that was 6 inches above the floor of the van froze even though higher up the air and equipment felt warm from the heater.

This morning the feed hose from the tank that runs along the vans floor was warm, as was every nook and cranny.

First time that has ever happened.

Bubble wrap man, its cool, or not so cool!

Nope, so I'm spending the day moving all my stuff into my newly-rented garage along with my portable Calor Gas heater.  Should be toasty in there by tonight.

Cheers Barry. All the best mate!
Only downside is lack of top class racing and sport tomorrow, Boxing Day.

Not today, snowing down here, also thunder and lightning, so the slx is stayin in the van.

I don't mind working in this weather, and I have comercial stuff to get on with as well, but I am not willing to to risk my van. I can drive safely but some of the idiots out there just can't be trusted.
if it is dirty it is fair game

Van completley froze, even though its had a paraffin heater in for two days. Transfer pumps froze too. Don't think i'm going anyhwere in a hurry. Had my microbore and pole hoses freeze on me on Saturday halfway through a job so i think its a waste of time to defrost van just yet anyway.

I never let the van freeze solid mike
let it get very cold thats fine, then warm it up again
you only have to do this a few days a year
i like the sound of this propex heater
saves messing around with a rad

Im lucky that I got 95% of Novembers work done by last Friday. Probably only got about £50 worth to do which are mainly callbacks. Snow forecast Tomorrow here so another day off I think.
So looks like another month (dec) where I'm going to have to do 4 weeks work in two. I do like a challenge though.

not us, one guy off sick, and one van frozen even though it had a heater in it all night!!!! guess that one needs a bigger heater.

Ive decided to go hot! may even go with posidon products to fit us out! had another chat will elliot there last night, I like the fact they fit the flu and modify the van, meaning we can work with the doors shut, also its all done in one day and ready to go, perhaps it is worth spending more with them after all.

Hot isn't the solution to the van freezing up

hour and a half i was outside this morning with kettles of hot water defrosting everything!

Tonight i will drain all the pipes to see if that makes a difference, if not back to a heater in the van

Once the pipes are sorted though the hot will keep us working through

Sweet!!

just been speaking with Pure freedom and all i need is a switch so that the hot will pump enough water through my system to stop it freezing, it will switch itself on when the temp drops to what ever i set it up as. Brilliant!...bring it on! ;)

nope hot isnt the definitive answer to freezing conditions, the water is still cold in the tank and you gotta get it through the pump & into the heater!
WE CLEAN BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT WITH WATER FED POLE WHEN WORKING AT HEIGHT.
